I created a post a while ago about inspirational artists. Almost right away I realized it was a terrible idea, because everybody on here listens to a ton of stuff every day, and there's no way I'm going to listen to every artist that everybody posts about. So, how about this. Can you post one song by one artist that you think is worth everybody hearing?

I'd suggest listening to Fortune Days by the Glitch Mob. It's just a genius song, and that's all I can say about it. It has to be one of my favorite electronic songs as of right now.

I didn't miss this week! I'm already doing better than last week!

Week 6 was bull crap for me. I made a song, finished it on Sunday, but freaking time zones kept me from uploading it. I may just upload two songs in the same mix for week 7. But, I still haven't missed a week!

I think it's important to listen to more music than you write. Or, maybe that's my excuse for not writing as much music as I should. Still, I think it'd be interesting to hear what people like to listen to.

I'd have to say that I really like the music of Passion Pit. They're super weird, but they offer a really great sound with sick beats and electronic focus. Ronald Jenkees and the Glitch Mob are two others I'd recommend, who I'd like to see more reflected in my music.

So, who do you listen to? Who inspires your music?

My track for this week took a different approach than I usually go for. I don't think it's as intense as my others, it sounds fairly natural with no annoying transitions, it turned out happier than what I usually make my songs to be, and I really liked it better than most of my others. It may be my favorite so far.

I know nothing about vocals, but I wanna start recording them sometime soon. Is a bathroom a good place to record them? Would a closet be better?

I don't own an iPad/Touch/Phone, but I went to an apple store and probably spent half an hour on Garage Band. It was pretty cool, at least I think.

Thanks for the help guys! I just bought FL Studio Producer Edition! Saving and Recording, here I come!

Weeklybeats isn't about stars. Comments come to some, but not to others. Feedback is just an extra prize besides the motivation this site gives you! Don't be discouraged if nobody comments on your stuff.

This site is one of the highlights of my week. I love making music, I love listening to music, and I love getting advice and criticism about my music. It's not very hard for me, yet.

I totally get the school thing. Just do your best. Nobody will be mad if you miss a week or two. Good luck!

I have so much time on my hands, that this has been no problem for me so far smile

Woah! George, thanks! I just made a run over the feature list, and buying the next step up will, for one thing, not cost to much, but it will also get me a ton more features!

You can still record and plot automation as events (i.e. how automation was handled before FL 5) wink

I started using it on FL 7 or 8. I don't quite know how to do that D:

If you like FL's interface and workflow a lot you will probably have trouble getting to grips with other software (especially Reason!).

If you're not planning on recording anything then you can get the "fruityloops" edition of FL which doesn't have the advanced routing and recording capabilities of the producer edition but is half the cost and still lets you use VSTs and all that jazz. Then if you ever need to upgrade you can pay the difference later, or if you want to start using a more recording-centric DAW like ProTools or Cubase you can run the fruityloops edition inside other DAWs as a ReWire client.

btw: been using FL for all of my WB stuff so far. It's pretty great!
