gold sax

Oh Lord, this was a heavy week. It is finally a hot summer now and we can hardly escape from it. the only cool spot is the basement, where I had to play the new saxophone. Found a mouthpiecepaper for a tenorsax somewhere on my Xaphoon and used it with the altsax. It sounds much better now. I only had 1/2 day to record stuff, so I used a loopsession with effectpedals, Rhodes, drums, microphones in front of a Fender- and Voxamp, moog and a few percussions. The other day I had to arrange and mix that stuff. I had a tiny vision and only made it to this point. maybe I reached 1-2% of what it could be, but you know, I play saxophone for the second time in my life, have no education and knowledge of drumming, pianoplaying at all. just tried to catch that psalm feeling. unfortunately there was an USB hiss and hum, knobs and faders crackling and I still use a broken pair of monitors. therefor I am lucky this week. thank you.

I like the ephemeral and fragile vibe very much. The sax has a very soothing, natural quality and it works very well as a counterpoint to that low synthline. Great!

For only playing the sax twice in your life, you're getting a great sound out of it.  It's such a neat texture in the mix (along with a lot of other great ones.)  Feels like I'm just floating in a pool of cool sounds.

Coulda fooled me with your sax_skilz!  Love the whole mood and atmosphere immediately set with this.  Feels like something primordial is brewing as the rhodes percolates with the drums and sax.  Music for a dimly lit and chilled temp room.  Hope you are keeping cool this week!

The first two minutes of this feel like Tom Waits is on a deep and dark trip. It's just the right amount of messy. Very cool! After that the track loses focus for me for me for a while. I think the last two minutes are good and interesting again. You're subtly building up the intensity there again. I like that. Anyway, neat stuff! Stay cool.

with you in the heavy  heart
nice to hang out with you in the basement for a bit. woodwinds are not easy to just pick up and play! i look forward to hearing more saxophone adventures from you.
here's hoping for a lighter week...

You caught a feeling here for sure. I can imagine myself as a young lad unable to escape the summer heat, velcroed by sweat to a leather sofa in my parents' basement. No obligations and nothing to do.

I love how there's a bit of a crescendo near the end of this track. Great stuff smile

well this basment jam lifted my spirits - i hope your next week is lighter & cooler!

oh yeah i am digging this from the very start. nice atmosphere. interesting to see how we are all interpreting the summer heat in our tracks. i can feel the hazy heat in this one but also a cool relief. the jazzy free-rhythm feel works very well here.

This was such a journey. I'm kinda at a loss for words. I'm still listening again as I type this and keep getting lost in the space of this track and hearing new things but always feel like I'm going somewhere... really awesome.

And omg the Rhodes ... soooo good.

Really great, thank you.

That sax has been a great find, love the sound of it, always enjoy each week of your music as you know you are going to get something unique and special.  It is always time well spent listening to what will unravel and where the music will take you.

Love your use of organic sounds and instruments and I appreciate the time it must take to mic and record everything. This song has a beautiful feel to it.  Very free and flowing.  If you haven't heard Boren and der Club of Gore, check them out.  Try the Black Earth album as you might enjoy it.

You caught the psalm feeling in the basement, I'm closing my eyes during this and floating along. Great experiments and playing. It's inspiring, I want to go wander and find the feeling now. Nice that you pulled it off even when some challenges, you have much skill!

This is oooozing in the best way. It really does sound so organic and live, like a free/experimental band playing off of each other and creating all these interesting textures.
