Couchf*cker (tell the truth)

By Paisleyfrog on January 18, 2026 5:38 pm

I'll get to my New Wave song eventually. Once again, this song needed to get out now. Making this felt good.

Honestly, words fail . If there was no indication before this that we are in fascism under wannabe authoritarians, it's this: that instead of declaring this to be a tragedy, that policies would be examined, but efforts would continue...they quadruple down, blame the dead, tell lies and then investigate the widow for domestic terrorism.

Tell the truth, Couchfucker*.

*I will admit that there is a certain degree of hypocrisy in excoriating Vance to tell the truth, while smearing him with an untrue internet meme. But fuck that. I'm just some joker on the internet making songs. He's the Vice President of the Goddamn United States. He gets to be held to a higher standard.

Production notes: went back to some of my favorite heavy angry music for this. Ministry, Skinny Puppy, etc. Uncle Al's guitar style was a huge influence, as was Rabies and Tin Omen. Lyrics started out with "Piggy tells his master's lies" right before going to sleep and flowed from there. Slept on it and the rest came out at work the next morning. Had to remember a bit how to make heavy music! Leaned on some of the presets I saved from '24 to get me there, as well as some suggested vocal tricks.

In my mind, this is the B-Side to Self-Made Lucifer smile  In that way, I also needed to get this one out - week 45 in ‘24 was the protest song, and then week 46 got ANGRY. Patterns must continue.

Huge, huge thanks to Homeostatic and SQF for adding their voices - this needed to be a shout-along, and my voice alone wouldn't cut it. Homeostatic also contributed some great vocoder noice which blended great into the bed, and SQF contributed the sultry breakdown. That voice...AMAZING. Honestly, NEVER would have thought of doing it otherwise. Awesome.

I love this community.

The energy on this is amazing. It was a high point of my week hyping myself up to shout along to this!

"The Devil knows your name". Perfect way to end it. Amazing work.

This has real KMFDM vibes, totally sick track!

sitting in my recliner, freshly applied eyeliner...

One of the best and hardest-hitting protest songs I've heard lately. Incredible work putting this together. Awesome job to Homeostatic and SQF too!

Hell yeah, before I read that Ministry was an influence, I was feeling it. Sick ass vibe. And damn, I wish I had contributed some vocals for the shout along too! haha. SQF's little poetry slam is gold. Great job though, and fuck JD.

Such a great job on this one

great energy and love 'how do you sleep"

This is correct. Love the Rabies influences, the vocals are fantastic. Sofa king funny.

holy shit wow this is sick !!

let's go ministry too heart

great industrial track!

how did you create the vocals sound?

Thank you! And thank you so much for adding in your voice and noise. The shout-along turned out exactly how I wanted, and the vocoder noise blended in perfectly.

Thanks! My initial thought was to make that as the ending line on each chorus, but I like how it ended up better.

I think we all know who the Devil is in this case. I hear he was self-made...

KMFDM sucks! big_smile big_smile

Thank you, this makes me happy...another one of my favorite bands. smile

I listened to that first at work, right after SQF sent it to me. Damn near broke me right in the middle of the office.

Thank you! heart I love how this turned out, and the contributions elevated it so much.

I'll be sure to ping you if I do it again...I'm feeling this is going to be an angry year. Thank you so much!!

Dude, thank you SO MUCH for your addition. I was just going to do a Numan-esque silence break, but this is so much better...never would have thought of this otherwise.

I've never really used Funny in my heavy songs, but I like it. One of the best weapons against fascism is laughter...

Thanks! I love Ogre's vocals, one of the best frontmen ever IMHO. And I realized that I have a double dose of Al Jourgensen influence, seeing as how he was guitars on Rabies LOL

I love the two approaches to political industrial - Skinny Puppy tends to be more analytical and obtuse political, while Ministry is much more "fuck you" political big_smile big_smile

Thanks! Vocals use a Megaphone preset as the base (overdrive/distortion), which I tweaked. Verse adds a light chorus effect. Differences beyond that are in the delays I used. Verse has a subtle long delay with short feedback. Prechorus is a long wash delay. Chorus is doubled and panned L/R with a hard slapback delay (a suggestion Orange Drink gave me in '24). Vocal performance is 100% me going after Ogre's growl from Tin Omen. smile

hell yais! feelin those ministry and skinny puppy vibes!  Loved seeing the chorus come together on the discord.  Awesome piano interlude that had a march of the pigs release to it. Guitars sound so good \m/  Piano outro yais!

goes insanely hard!

Hehe nice, sounds good

Echoing the other comments. Instant KMFDM vibes. This is so good, so raw and so important.

Thanks! Definitely leaned on the NIN-style loud/soft with the piano - I thought of that immediately after SQF sent his poetry big_smile Also had Aphex Twin's remix from Further Down the Spiral in mind, The Beauty of Being Numb - that lovely clicky buzzy percussion underneath what is almost easy listening smile

Thanks! The joy of quiet parts in a song like this is that it makes the hard parts even harder big_smile

Thanks! It's funny, I wasn't thinking about KMFDM when I made it, but you're right - that's a sound that is absolutely baked in to my musical consciousness smile

I think I need to make a video for this.

Thanks. It's getting scary over here.

y'all nailed the vibe. i also really dig the sound on the guitar lead part @ 3 min.

this is truly a time of great insult.
love & solidarity & power to the people

Fuck dude, your vocal processing on this is excellent and seriously sounds like it belongs on Wax Trax!  Guitars and samples are so good as well.  And high 5 to your guest vocalists as well.  Some solid industrial rock right here, well done.

The couchfucking meme is pretty much harmless and victimless. These narratives are neither.

Thank you heart I struggled a bit with the solo section a bit, I wanted something more ragged but wasn't feeling it. Ended up doing that frenetic little line and doubled it an octave down.

A Time of Great Insult....might need to make a song out of that...

WaxTrax! That is such a huge compliment, thank you.

Thank you for that important perspective, you are 100% correct...I've gotten so used to bad faith whataboutism that I seem to pre-answer it.

In no small part the mess the US is in is because the left has refused to get its hands even a little dirty. I need to remember my own lyrics - "why go high when you go low?"

🤘🤘🤘

I got nothing I am in awe.

Cool! definitely evokes that Stigmata era Ministry! With Perhaps a dash of NIN good stuff

YUSSSS
Great sound, great riffs, perfect vocal performance...do I just like it when you're angry? I wanna stand outside this dingus's bedroom window with a boombox over my head like John Cusack blasting this 24/7

yeah it's such a perfect and appropriate phrase. i'm not 100% sure of the origin, but i heard it from Chad Clark of the incredible band Beauty Pill. he mentioned (can't remember if it was in an interview or in his bandcamp newsletter) that he had received an email from Guy Picciotto from Fugazi that closed with something like, "I hope you are doing ok in this time of great insult."
that really stuck with me!

tbh I'm so glad I checked the lyrics but the intro was great! lol

Sick track! I keep wanting to make angry protest tracks but I just can't figure out how to tap into that energy while sitting at my computer building songs in a DAW...you've nailed it though, great job!

The sad part (or at least one of the sad parts) is that you hold yourself to a higher standard than the Vice President does.  You at least have the decency to feel a little guilty about your "hypocrisy."  And that dude has definitely gotten jiggy with a few inappropriate things in his day.  Couches might be the least of them.  Rockin' track and it should totally be blasted at him everywhere he goes.  No notes, ten out of ten.

Dat Ministry vibe... heart

Man fuck these guys, unfathomable what is happening... 2 minutes hate def got upgraded to 5 x_X ... I think about that often when I see comments on social media... feels like we live in a constant state of 2 minutes of hate

Going hard!

really like the guitars there. Super track.

Fuck him, love this

Yeah. "Make the lie big enough, and repeat it often enough..."

Thanks! Yeah, I lean on a lot of my favorite music when trying to make a track like this. Also helped that I wrote the lyrics first before I laid down music - and watched the Couchfucker's press conference.

That got me angry.

Thanks. It's the whole "when hunting monsters, one must take care not to become amonster yourself." Facts have to  matter.

Also makes me think of the joke I heard the other day - "Did you hear that Usha Vance is pregnant with their fourth child?

She must have fallen asleep on the couch."

Thanks! And god dammit...I thought it was the Five Minute Hate - but you're right, it's only two. It's  been a bit since I've read 1984. It's stuck with me. There's the feel I should revisit it, but I'm not sure about when I'm living it. "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

wow ministry / kmfdm highschool flashbacks

That distortion on your voice is perfect: cuts through the mix, AND cuts through my soul! I love the hard-driving momentum of the angst here, you frame and orchestrate it so perfectly heart
