So cool that you were able to do this in the snow!! Awesome track smile

You sure "snow" how to make a catchy tune! big_smile

Seriously, this rocks. The guitar loop and bassline are totally addictive together!

Really cool to see a performance in the snow, although I have to admit I'm glad to be watching this via video and not there live!  I was just worrying about you falling while doing those moves in the snow and then you did!  Glad to see you hop right back up.  Hope the equipment handled the freezing temperatures, too.

I love that you absolutely sent it in the last half. I feel like I'm way too clumsy to be doing that. That looked like a lot of fun, even if it was cold out. The warbly guitar loop paired really nice with the bass. Such a banger!

The last minute's commandeering of a friend's place demonstrates dedication to the cause. You get kudos for this. The video takes us back to the garden! I missed that garden!

There was this noise/glitch at 0:37 and then you make that a riser before the guitar. Actually I wanted more of that noise! Gimme glitch and Noise! I felt the NIN vibe coming in! Great track full of energy, and you get full points on the performance! The cold weather must help with the motivation of jumping around, but wow you are lighting the snowy garden on fire!

So the answer is yes - the octatrack does work at freezing temperatures (but maybe not for long)/

Never had the occasion to go on one of those, but we have those "Igloo fest" here in Mtl that seems to be load of fun.

You video is a just a little smaller version of it wink

I think we can make you the official cheerleader now, as well as King of Creative Constraints.
Hello Frank! THanks for your help.
Larry, looking fresh in your OrangeDrink swag!!!
Love.

So cold! Enjoyed this, thanks! Stay warm.

It's so funny to see, it's taking your live show out to animals in the snow big_smile. Fun energy on this! Is the guitar and bass that you play before to make this, or samples?

the guitar riff is SO ORANGE DRINK, love that special little tiny moment of crunchiness at 2:29

I really dug when the guitar sample rolled in, which totally has that Orange Drink vibe to it that is immediately recognizable with the warp effect. Out of curiosity, do you record those loops on the week of for these tracks or did you build a sample library of guitar loops that you pull from occasionally? I rarely use samples but I try doing something like that whenever I make electronic songs. Also that bass line is tasty, haha.

Nice and full performance! Kudos for getting such a good sound out, even tho it's live. Did you do any more processing on the audio or is it 1:1 what came out of the live recording?

Love when the bass comes in giving the full context to the composition. For my taste there's too much highpass that tries to generate drops, but that being said the drops are cool and by the end of the song I was also moving big_smile just not in the snow altho we just got a big snowfall. Thanks for another banger!

I have no idea how you are back doing Weekly Vids again but I'm not complaining. Loved this one (last week also!) great to be here for another lap around the sun amongst my favorite group of people.

the bass guitar sound is sooo post-punk i love it in this mix

Darn. You'd think making a track cannot possibly be such a drama! Thanks for exposing yourself to the elements for our enjoyment! Loved every second of this. If WB was a person, it would be you, Drew.

As for the track itself, love your dancy side. But of course the guitar is still present! Reminds me of Peter Hook's awesomeness in Hybrid's best years. Total banger. Might be my favorite track of yours.

YES to the distorted blow-outs at 0:37 and 1:47.  YES to the muted-drop-outs at 1:03 and other spots.  YES to midwestern snow-storms.  xoxo.

this jam is as delicious as orange sherbet
hope you & the gear defrosted safely
heart to the team orange drink support crew

damn I'm cold just watching the video but the song sounds amazing!!

really enjoyed listening. cold guitars and warm bass is a delight

The guitarcase as a table and stand for the rig and the whole performance is genius. Really fun.

dig this tune and the video to go along with it. Thanks for sharing!

This just hits all the right feels.

you did it! hope yr power is back on? did all yr gear survive??
also interested to hear more about yr process.
Larry w/ the OD shirt got a big AWWWW over here   heart

Ooooh that groovin bass with the guitar sounds so good.  Love when it starts to open up a bit too.  The distorted fills made me feel that c0000ld brrrr.  I hope you and the gear safely thawed out.  It's not enough you film an awesome vid a week now you're touring the countryside!  go team OD! heart

I like this song!

I like the post punk vibes with the bass.

Really digging that chorus sound on the guitar! Or vibrato

Nice track!

Stay frosty. You got this.
- Devieus

Ahhh the horror of this story glad you didn't need to pull out the mod cards but I feel this would be less on you.

Love the track still upset was no snow the year I come over but glad to see you making the most of it

Pretty hot stuff for such freezing temperatures. Really enjoying the song and that Factory-esque guitar licks melted with a four to the floor beat. Really nice tune, and really awesome work.

The dancing in the snow really makes this one, great job!

Forgot to comment here last week!
This is fire.
No it's ice cold.
It's icey fire!
I was wanting some OD guitars, but got them via the the Octa, I think that's what you're using there right? Such a great concept to play outside. Very brave, but worth it, it looked super cool. I wanted to join you. I finally have some snow over here in the PNW and got to walk around, but no get is going outside, not as brave as you. Cool to see the behind the scenes a bit in the vid, go team!

I’m glad I fell!  The equipment was okay but I was not pushing it, we were in and out in about 10 min max.

I actually played guitar and bass and sampled it!  My first time recording something to Octatrack, but I did record it on Ableton, and then connected the CPU to Octa to record.  The bunnies and squirrels LOVED the track!

Thank you!  It feels really complimentary to have a “signature sound”

I wrote and recorded these while listening to the drum beats.  I recorded them to Ableton then connected the Octatrack to record.

100% live recording, there was a Zoom H1 recorder on the table there.  I did mastering and a bass cut and that was it.  Yeah, definitely agree about too many highpass drops - I don’t know how to use the other FX yet!  smile  And I need to figure out all the FX on the Octatrack.  The Octatrack has two FX sections per channel and you can stack them in crazy ways.

I regret the vids already! smile  Love you buddy glad we are back!

florelle wrote:

Thank you!  Post-punk is a big part of the Orange Drink DNA, thank you.  I used to play bass in a few bands and think I got that “bass style” from those experiences.  Very validating to hear that you hear that too!

ha!  what a kind comment, what can I say, I suffer for the art and I suffer for the WB squad’s enjoyment.  WOW a Peter Hook comparison????  unreal!  Thank you thank you thank you.

Thanks!  I think another step would be to put velcro on the boxes to stick it to the case!  and you can put the gear in the case to take to the show!

Can’t wait to tell Larry that he’s got fans!  The power actually came on about 20 min after we got all set up at Larry’s.  I recorded the guitar and bass and then imported them into the Octa, and then did the song from there.  There was a Zoom H1 recorder on the table recording the output.

Interesting choice for recording this.  The drum machine with the indie-rockish guitars is a really cool combo.  Very cool development throughout.  Well done.
