A Train Ride Through Nowhere City

By Tomatron.Jones on January 14, 2024 11:15 pm

This started off as an arpeggio, descending bassline, and an improvised melody line - all written and played on a Korg Minilogue synth. Then I started augmenting it with some samples, including trumpet counter-melody with the synth line, piano, and hi-hats. Finally, a sample of city and subway ambience. Lots of automation and processing, primarily with the Transit plugin. I wanted to keep it a bit simpler, the last one kinda got away from me, too many overlapping layers, conflicting pulses of the '1' beat. The trumpet adds a sort of lonely, longing, film noir vibe with a raising of intensity. I am slowly envisioning a 'cyber-noir' sound and vibe.

Total time: 4 hours.

so noir, i love it, good work

Thank you! I want to explore more what it might mean to be a modern / synth noir.
