This is a bit of a departure from my usual break beats and jungle submissions and I think it is the start of a new project. I'm not sure what genre it really is so if you have ideas let me know. I felt the need to have a whole different process for making music from the one i use for jungle. more experiments to come.

I also made a new instrument and used it twice on this track. It is just some springs on a board with a contact mic but I really like how it sounds and there seems to be a lot of different things i can do with it. I also used my lap steel guitar on this track which I built earlier this year. It is rewarding to make music with instruments I've made myself.

Oh awesome, you made a noise board! I've always wanted to make one. Really like the ambient feel of this - jangly but also melodic. Deep bass subs underneath add nice richness. Also, your lap steel sounds great - something else I've always wanted to make smile

This track is inspiring AF. Thank you!

Excellent atmosphere! Very impressive spring board--it'll be interesting to hear how you use it!

WOW, I love such experiments. Did I hear the violin bow? Great sounding setup. Well done.

Aside from the hard right pan, really fascinating stuff. I have a spring like that on my mic arm, and it can sometimes make this sound. Feels surprisingly loud, even when it's not really loud.

This somehow fits the spooky October vibe! But also reminds me of bad folding bed springs, so there's some emotional ambivalence big_smile

Love this, it's such a great sound and rhythm exploration and the space is DEEP. Absolutely love the lap steel guitar along with the spring effects but it's that sub drop that really makes the piece for me - kinda feel like you're suspended on a wire bridge and then suddenly know how deep the chasm below you is. Awesome.

I’m a little late to the party, but dude. So rad.

I love the spring sound. It’s got that same kind of magical acceleration/deceleration that a door stop has. Scratches an itch in my brain.

We are definitely lost in the desert to this tune

this was so calming and cool to listen to. love the combo of the sounds you used.
and i'm always a sucker for lap steel  smile

Thanks Paisleyfrog! Have you made any instruments? I am really enjoying the projects. I saw someone use the top part of a 5 gallon water bottle for percussion which sounded cool. Next time I can get my hands on one i'm going to try it

Thanks so much! Funny enough, I tried a spring doorstop too but couldn't get it to do anything interesting on the board. There is definitely a brain scratching sound.

I saw that water bottle drum! Amazing sound. But then, I’m convinced that that particular maker could get amazing sound from three sticks and a wet paper bag smile

I’ve built a few lyres and cigar box guitars, and a waterharp. I have the parts in hand for a lap steel, I should make that soon…
