This week I finished making myself a lap steel guitar. I posted a bunch of pictures from the build on discord so check them out there if you are interested. I am away from my "studio" so i used my small zoom recorder as an audio interface and it worked really well! This track is basically a drum break, bass and four layers of lap steel guitar. Renoise for production. I am pleased with the results and looking forward to using it a lot and learning how to play it better. I am also enjoying branching out from the Amen break into other copyright free breaks. Can't wait to hear what everyone else did this week!

Congrats on the lap steel build. It looks (and sound) pretty good. I like the choice of DnB like drum loop.

Fun listen, nice new toy!

Hey, the sounds you are doing with the lap steel are so cool. The instruments are pretty nice too.  A weird melancholy exists in the track, which I like. The breakbeat gives it a solid backbone. This operation was a full success.

It was great following up your buildup flow. The lap steel guitar brings a whole different accent to the track. A nice piano + breakbeats track is moved directly to the polynesian islands with the slide on a guitar. I'm looking forward to what else you'll come up with!

Yo that looks so cool, and sounds so well together

What the hell. You built your own lap steel? That's amazing. The tuning is a bit loose, but it does work in the context of the track! Which brings me to another surprise here: pairing lap steel with jungle, and Renoise in particular, is a uniquely creative choice. Good stuff!

Thank you, Kedbreak! I have been drawn to the sound as well and have seen it shine in electronic music in the past.

Thank you! it was really fun to build and so satisfying to record with something you've made. The tuning and the timing are definitely loose, which is not unintentional, but I am glad to hear that it works for you when listening. I like to get off the grid as much as possible, to add more tension and contrast with things that are on the grid. Thanks so much for the close listen and the comment!

Just pure musical heaven. I could, and would, listen to this all day. I know it's a new instrument for you but this track already demonstrates some deep understanding of how it works on a musical level, in mood, in feel, in how it occupies space in the music, it's quite wonderful.
