The James R Barker is a freight ship that works in the Great Lakes and has an iconic horn called the Barker Bark. It also happens to be the Gm Lydian major 5th so when I heard it, I knew what I had to do...

This one again is in Gm made with Renoise, Neutron, Pro-800, TD-3, an Amen Break and a Barker Bark. I am happy with this week and happy with my instruments and mix. I continue on my journey of less is more, trying to simplify my instruments, arrangement and mix. I really dove into the keyboard shortcuts of Renoise this week as well and added a bunch more to my vocabulary. This week and next week are a little tight for time for making music because of other obligations but a time restriction can be a good thing every once and a while I think. Thank you to everyone who listens and comments!

I love a sound with a background story! Also, it sounds massive! Thanks for sharing.

That ship horn is incredible. Instantly grabbed my attention. This rules.

This is dope... and those 808s... └@( ・ェ・ )@┐

Couldn't stop smiling. Such a crisp, precise mix, minimal but full of interest and that buzzy little sequence that starts mid way is just delightful. Loved it!

Super cool idea to start with the horn. Very nice.

perfect track

Supreme sounds. Everything here is awesome. Thanks.

great chops that keep getting better every week, tight sub bass as well. love the barker bark backstory and its incorporation into the track. nice work!

Certified banger! Love the backstory, sampling, percs, sub bass. I'm so on board. Full steam ahead, my friend. Favorited

Wow this really works with the break beats! Fuuuuck yeah. Great story too. Favorited

Nice find with the horn sound! I can't really hear the Lydian mode in the barker bark but it's a surprisingly rich sound harmonically nonetheless. At first, I could only hear the 5th but the harmonics of the 3rd are clearly there. Trying to insert a minor 3rd is unpleasantly dissonant so yeah, this is a major chord!

Thanks man! Who would have thought we would be sitting around thinking deeply about a ship horn haha i love it!

That is a damned cool thing to use to make a damned cool song (I love it when tracks have informative descriptions like this).

The subbb bass & fluttery breaks sound great, too.  But the bongo break in the middle sort of steals the show. tongue

oh hell yeah heart

Very nice use of the horns. Digging this song.

wow that sound
