A Dream of Spring

By Napear on March 8, 2026 8:25 pm

Hey hey everyone... so this week was CRAZY busy. I was pulling 12 hour days at work basically every day... being overemployed is a GREAT problem to have, but man it is tiring ╮(╯_╰)╭ ... I wouldn't even say I was under a massive time crunch to make something for this week, I just flat out didn't have the energy to tackle a major production.

But honestly, given the state of the world right now, I felt like I really needed to make something hopeful... so I leaned hard into the "spring is springing" vibe. In a HUGE step away from my typical sad boy aesthetic, this track is fully major... like even the key change goes to another major key... so yeah, VERY hopeful... for me anyway.

Because of the energy levels, we are definitely in sketch territory here. I didn't even use a click track... I just hit record and played until I got a take that felt right... so it might be a touch sloppier than I would normally permit... but I think it captures the feeling I wanted to get out into the world. I hope you all are finding some sunshine out there this week and staying sane (❁´◡`❁)

Pretty. big_smile Props for getting it together under the time / energy constraints. Hope you get a chance for a proper breather soon.

such a lovely rhodes sound from the Nord heart.   Listened to this with the window open and enjoyed those major spring vibes.  Well done!

very relaxing and pleasant session.

Thanks for this piece. It is direct and very touching. Unfiltered emotion.

Extra props to you for making the effort and produce some music even after such long days.

Respect, man

delicious reverb

Beautiful playing! Love the patch ... and I approve of popping on all the effects! We definitely need more of this in the world.

Thanks! That's the EP 9 Stockholm XL patch... I'm pretty sure it's sampled from a 1976 Mark I. I didn't even do anything to the base sound, it's just so good right out of the box.

Glad you and the birds dug it! Fun fact about this track: it was actually inspired by the Rhodes part I recorded for you for Cityscape last year... that chord progression has just been rattling around in my head ever since, and it gradually evolved into this track.

Right?! You can never have too much reverb?... yes... the answer to that is yes... but it you kind have to go out of your way to do it.
