The Windy Day

I've been using mandolin as a way to get into playing some Irish traditional music lately. I got into some Irish music way back when but I found it hard to pick up on the guitar, especially by ear. After I started getting into bluegrass and flatpicking I felt like I could maybe start to wrap my head around how you might play Irish melodies on guitar and mandolin. I found some good Irish mandolin tutorial videos and have been trying to learn some of the reels and jigs. I really like the rhythmic variations and melodies in that music.
For this week I decided to have some fun and improvise a little tune with the intent of trying to draw on what I've learned so far about some of the phrasing and bounce of that music. There's still so much to learn but it's definitely a good time. I didn't try to add any of the fancier triplets or cuts ornaments since I don't think I feel comfortable enough with those yet to be able to keep a rhythm, but that's definitely a goal of mine! It's a nice sunny, windy day today, hence the title.
