ATTENTION!!!

All feedback on the mix and song appreciated.

Thanks for all your comments so far!

This was a demo from last year that I wanted to change a few things (changed a verse line, verse drums, added intro, and a couple other things), and to improve the mix.

Originally played this one acoustic at open mics. First finished the piece so I could play it when I was in Berlin last July.  It has been the funnest song to play for sure. I start in either silence, or a classical guitar style piece, then abrubtly just shout ATTENTION! It works a treat and fun to see everyone in the room's head swivel before I crank out a descending riff on the acoustic lol.

Laksmi in Kreuzberg has probably been the best reception I've got but it was pretty funny going hardcore with it on a quiet night at a small bar on a Tuesday night in my small hometown in the UK.

The lyrics are partially inspired by the work of Cal Newport, his books Deep Work and Digital Minimalism.

Listened on laptop speakers and sounded great!
Don't have any mixing notes as I was paying more attention to the song, which I guess is good mixing feedback!
Great song! Thanks for sharing

This sounds really good production wise. If this came on randomly on Spotify, I wouldn't think twice about the production being inadequate -- and in fact I'm grooving hard to this one. Great job!

I love this song! I can only imagine how well it would work live. Love the polite punk aesthetic of ATTENTION!!

My two cents - I would love for the guitars to be a little more in your face in the mix. There’s great energy in the vocal, and I’d love to have the guitar share that more. That said - I really love this track, and was totally grooving to it. ATTENTION!!

Wow, thanks so much. That's great, maybe my mixing is actually getting better! Haha. Thanks for the kind words smile

Thanks a million! Your feedback is really helpful thanks. I'll think about trying to have the guitar a bit more up there. Thanks again! smile

Cool track!

I dunno how "punk" this idea is; At around 1:25 when the vocals emphasize RE - A - LI - TY!
If one was to add a moment of silence (a quaver, if that), to suspend to drop back into TY!
I feel it would just hit soooo much harder.    RE - A - LI - - TY!
Or line up that "alarm guitar" so it falls in the gap    RE - A - LI - *Beep* - TY!

Rock on! \M/

Very cool!

What would you change on the mix if anything?

Thanks! I think I'd lower one of the sound effects, and then maybe incorporate the notes from the comments above!

This really needs a megaphone, not like a real one, but like a tiny, shitty toy one

A fun song indeed. I think the mix is great it's just a little quiet compared back to back to other songs. MAKE IT LOUDER! Sounds great and would love to see this live!!

YESSS!! This is great, nailed it.

sounds great on my not great laptop speakers at low vol - loud and clear but not too much = it kept my attention

Hahahaha you can literally find inspiration anywhere huh. I would never have guessed this was seeded by Deep Work! I have stolen random ideas and nuggets from books like that before for lyrics to great success.

This is cool. I want to hear the acoustic version

i was laughing imagining you doing this live  big_smile
this really gets cooking, i'm into it.
ACHTUNG!

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I need to look at getting my tracks louder, this was maxed out and clipping red everywhere haha. I'm lead to believe compression will help. Thanks for listening!

Haha yes ideas can come from everywhere! I'd love for Cal to hear it, maybe I should try to get it to his ears somehow haha.

I think the acoustic version will have to remain as a live speciality!

ACHTUNG!

Hahaha yeah it has been pretty funny and also totally inappropriate a few times. Sometimes I like inappropriate though. Come down for a quiet night and some acoustic pop songs? ACHTUNG wink

Thanks for listening and your comment!

HAHA been there man. Missing your fine tunes this week 18, hope to see you back this week!

this is great! really love the energy of your tracks. mix really sounds spacious, while still keeping that raw-ness. And the lyrics are spot on.
