Outcasts and Misfit Creatures

By miraclemiles on January 4, 2026 10:05 pm

Hey welcome back everyone!
I'm really excited for some weekly music sharing and listening! I didn't produce much in 2025, so I'm looking forward to diving into the production pond and finishing some new tracks.
I'm planning on spending a little less time producing weekly songs than I have in past. I think (and hope) I am more focussed and efficient with song creation thanks to the all that past WB practice. We'll see!

About this week's song
Starting 2026 like I started 2022: with an edit of a Cyber Forest improvisation session. This is especially fitting this year since our first album Space Crimes is dropping any day now. It's full of fun and weird songs like this one.
Cyber Forest is myself on sounds and voice, sometimes Weekly Beater License on beats and sounds, and Nasty Dan on vocals.
We get together in person, sit around a table in my studio/office, and improvise sounds on various pieces of hardware. We say things to make each other laugh. It's fun. Can't wait for the album to drop soon!
I think I may have actually been saying "mystic creatures" not "misfit". Which is better?

I want to collaborate with some of you this year too, so you may be hearing from me!
See you in the comments!

Welcome back!  This is wonderfully disorienting in the finest tradition of some of your previous years' works.  The vocals are a lot of fun.  Can't help but smile at the biscuits.

Lets go to the geeraaj. This is weird and man I love weird.

Happy new year 2026! It's great to see you again with an alien track. Weird vocal soundbytes, groovy complex rhythms, you're starting with a treat.

I think you mentioned during the podcast with SQF that you are using an electronic drums (maybe not on this track) - what do you use?

Congrats with the album!

I think I just got the biscuits a little while listening to this track

Happy new year, this was pure fun to listen to. Psychedelic Sesamstreet on the air. smile

Oooh the intro and overall vibe are giving me beastie boy feels when they did their funky instrumentals.  Good to hear you back! Congrats on the new album droppin too! \m/

Dude, great start for the year... I read the tags as the track started playing, and was like "wait... biscuit?s" right before I hear "get the biscuits"... so know that you almost killed me with that timing.

Great to see you back at it, looking forward to the album drop, and all the madness of the year to come.

HAHAHA the beginning of this was too fun smile “GET THE BISCUITS!!!” - felt like the kookiest dungeon master starting up a fresh DnD session in some far away glitched out universe.

Oh yes, definitely "Misfit Creatures", those "Mystic Creatures" are just your average every day creatures.  Super fun track to get things going, but then I wouldn't expect anything else from you.  Always glad to hear you are back for another year, also great job on the podcast with SQF, really enjoyed that episode.

Hey! Glad you found it a treat! Yes to edrums! Makes playing in my office with family around and recording so easy. Upgraded last year to Roland TD27KV2, love them. Having the more "real" snare, ride and hi hats makes a huge difference.
