there's only one way out (welcome to twin peaks)

By MaisieMarra on February 22, 2026 11:36 pm

tomorrow on February 24th, agent dale cooper enters the town of twin peaks for the first time and discovers the body of laura palmer. it will forever be one of my favorite television shows, it always puts the fire back in my heart when I watch it. these next few songs are a love letter to it. the first one is for laura palmer, sometimes I cry when I think about you.

rest in peace david heart

i recorded a few chords similar to the opening credits on the rhodes and went from there. rest in peace angelo badalamenti, a big part of the magic was always with you heart

my time got cut short this week, I had so many ideas for what to do here and only got to do a few of them. I had an out of hours deployment I had to be a part of Sunday night that really took the final hours away from me too. Ended up cutting nearly 3 minutes of the track, but I think the arrangement is still okay heart wish I had time to actually mix and master this bitch too.

lyrics:

i wanna be wrong
we both know i'm not
i'll run for my life
like i'm tryna get caught
give me all of the risk
i got nothing to gain
i just watch it play out
and pray for something to change

i'd talk to god
but he won't talk back
it's like he's dodging my calls
i'm just facing the facts
i'm just watching the flames
i'm just caught in the glow
it just keeps building up
til i want to fucking explode

there's only one way out
there's only one way out
there's only one way out
there's only one way out

thank u to my friend Max for playing coop in the outro heart

all those tones synchronise so well with your voice it's so sick #creamernation

Another gem!

"One day the sadness will end."

Very well traveled fine line of quoting the source without becoming a copy. It must be somewhat frustrating for you to release a track this good and only get a lousy five stars. I get it. But it's all I got.

lush

Beautifully rich, especially when that distorted guitar kicks in. Wonderful work. big_smile

Great song for a great show. Loving the Twin Peaks vibes in those beginning chords. Lovely as always, well done!

This is an amazing tribute to an Angelo Badalamenti classic. Beautiful arrangement. My favorite part is that wailing guitar in the background. I'm a sucker for sounds like that - it captures a quiet grief that can slip by unnoticed (from the outside) in melancholy

wow you are amazing
no words
sorry wish i could say more

Perfectly captured the original essence to Angelo Badalamenti's score for the show with the intro. Great singing and writing as always, and I liked the way the distorted guitar was mixed so that it sits in the background but adds some crunch and noise to the mix.

When David Lynch passed away last year I was seriously bummed out by it. I couldn't stop thinking about his art and who he was as a person for weeks. There's so many people he's influenced who will carry on his legacy but no one will ever be David Lynch and, fuck, that's such a loss for the world. So thankful he created Twin Peaks: The Return, such a masterwork.

#creamernation

Through the darkness of future's past, the magician longs to see
One chants out between two worlds... "Fire walk with me."

twin peaks is one of my fav shows (especially the film and The Return), so excited to hear what you make!!
this song is so beautiful

Wow. I LOVE the tone of the synths. I love how washy the track gets when the vocals come in. Feels like a warm hug and a water color painting mixed into one thing. The distorted guitar towards the end really helps push forward the energy. An absolute masterpiece.

How do you manage to do this *every week*? For real?!

Keep 'em coming!

Fantastic homage - love how you set the tone with those opening notes, and then very much blaze your own trail with them in your amazing 80s style. Could have been a credits song for Fire Walk With Me.

Twin Peaks is quite possibly the best soundtrack for a TV show ever. The music set the stage and the characters perfectly, making you wonder where you were, or even what decade you were in.

thank you everyone heart i love WB from the m8 gang to the guitar nerds (:

thank you! heart I made the sounds when i was working on hold me close for week 5 or something? they're just made with the stock wavetables plugin in ableton i think i put the config for both of them in the chat there!

Another great work, I really enjoy the synths sound choice you have going in contrast to the more modern drums, the melody is so pretty heart

wow what a spectacular ode to twin peaks. one of my fav musical themes, what an absolutely godly composition, the way it rises up with the changes and the cinematography that matches it whenever it reaches that kinda apex in the music, the scene culminates in the episode. such an incredible first episode and the rest of the show.

this track is beautiful, caked in reverb, nice groove and changes. smooth dreamy vocals.

does the final vocal sample say "weeklybeats" at some point hahaha

i hope you get to perform this magic song in the Black Lodge someday

Absolutely beautiful. It blows my mind you can do these brilliant, lush performances every week. You really take me back to the ethereal, gauzy years I spent listening to as many 4AD artists as I could find at local record shops.

heart

I love the nod to the original theme and the waltzy feel.  Awesome atmosphere with your vocals and the synths. Ooof when the distorted guitars come in soooo nice.  Twin Peaks and Angelo Badalamenti's music was my fav then.  So cool how you got your friend Max to do Coop!  "A damn fine cup of coffee!" Excellent work thank you for the nostalgic trip and fun listen each week! smile

Very pretty, well done
- Ebrit

Ugh. Just hearing that opening melted me, then you started singing and just goosebumps.
This is astoundingly beautiful and speaks to source material very dear to my heart.
Spectacular. Favorited.

dale cooper is not #creamernation but i can forgive him for his crimes maybe (this song is such a gem oh my godd)

Woooaaaaah this is incredible. An instant favourite. Your voice floats so effortlessly over this track, it's beautiful. Dreaming of being able to write slowcore like this, but very happy that I get to listen to you live out my dreams. Looking forward to hearing more of your tracks!
