The Year Of The Horse

By Kedbreak136 on January 3, 2026 11:56 am

It's good to be back to Weekly Beats! I'm looking forward to listening to a lot of tracks this year again. I must give kudos to SQF who kept the momentum with his podcast about WB2024.

2026 is the year of the horse, and it therefore felt appropriate to start it up with music inspired by the Mongol traditions.

The throat singing and different vocalizations are mongol singing (courtesy of splice). One of the string instruments comes from samples from a Morin Khuur, the traditional Mongol violin like instruments. Of course, this all got spiced up with percussions, including Armageddon pack of Damage and other packages here and there. And some other samples - wind, thunder, hooves, horses neighing.

Welcome back!  This is the first track from WB 2026 I'm listening to and it's a great start to the year.

Epic and cinematic, I can totally picture myself riding on a horse through a windy mountain range.  I always love how your tracks conjure such vivid visuals.  Miniature movies in sound.

EPIC START (≧∇≦*) 行きましょう!!! Powerful, cinematic, awesome track.

Yeeesss!

J'adore le mix western et Mongol.

Well played!

downloading this to get my wife in the mood

excellent!

A cinematic masterpiece, as expected. Very neat.
Happy new year. Welcome back.

YEAR OF THE HORSE! A truly galloping bombastic track!

I have arrived with my saddle!  Born in '78!  Ready to ride!  Always love how you use sfx to tell the story from beginning to end.  I feel the wind flowing through my beard as the ride picks up pace.  The the throat singing is the icing on the cake.

Very cool! Year of the horse!

epic opening for this year of music, let's go!

Oh let’s go NEIIGHHHH! I’m all about the OOH AHs preceding the Celtic sounding hoedown — brilliant. Missed hearing your work, and gonna be taking my Kedbreaks weekly in 2026 heart

AMAZING start to the year!  Fiancé is shouting across the room that I need to tell you many nice things about this song, but tbh I'm probably just going to keep listening to it on loop for a while.  (So much good stuff in one track)

^^^ My voice after recording loud for a whole day.

Awesome cinematic track, as always! So cool to have you back! Using a lot of samples you still manage to sound like yourself! It’s very cool to see every time what you come up with! Original and futuristic with great references to traditional things!

I turned this on while it's the coldest day of Winter here so far. Such a coincidental match, but it's perfect.

This sound is a new turn for you, and you embraced it as if you've been doing that stuff all along. If somebody said this was part of the Witcher IV soundtrack, I'd believe them. Polished, interesting, organic, evocative. No notes, five stars.

leads with an epic charge!

Hehe that violin-thing that sounds like a horse neighing is great. Nice one! Have a great year

Great to hear your masterful sample manipulation, always so fun with all the twists and turns.  I really enjoyed your podcast with SQF, was definitely one of my favourite ones.

Me: Huh, well whaddya know.

Happy new year Kedbreak! Your WBs this year'll be a real treat as always, even just going off of this one. big_smile

Dear Kedbreak, happy new year and my best wishes for 2026. this is a powerful start. Cinematic and mysterious, definitely your handwriting. Well done.

Welcome! Glad to hear you back!
Ohhhh yes. Love these sounds and the journey this takes. Strings and throat singing all day every day yes please. I see the horse people rallying for battle, or celebrating a campaign around the fire at night.

Stunning arrangement! I really like the way you're weaving in the throat singing and violin lines with the drums. Propulsive!

It's an honor for you to stumble upon my track to enter the year! Thank you for listening and coming on an adventure with me.

NEEIGH! Did you notice that some of the "neiiigh" are actually the horse harp? It's a good trick that mongol musicians use. Let's do a collab this year!

Isn't mongol throat singing absolutely mind blowing? The overtones control is so impressive and cool. I'd love to learn without developing throat nodules.

Yes, the mongol players do crazy things with the Morin Khuur. It even has a headstock in the shape of a horse, which tells you everything you need to know about the Mongols.

Thank you that is very nice! I would love actually to hear your background and experience as you bring a very unique voice in WB. I hope to get that background info at some point!

Happy new year Q-Rosh! It was great listening to your story and thoughts on the SQF Podcast. I was worried I would not get to listen to new QRosh music this year when I saw there was no new track. I am relieved you're still active and I hope to hear some of your delightful tracks this year!

Hey Miles! I actually had a fireplace sample towards the end but ended up removing it at the last minute. Haha we think alike. smile

ready for this fire horse energy too! bring it on! here we go kedbreak!

Great build-up.
Kinda want to play some Witcher 3 while we are at it.
The whole track feels natural, if I close my eyes, it's almost like there is a Mongolian band standing around me.

This is such a great piece. You've nailed it and brought the compostion to life. the drums man, the drums!

Epic start to the new year and captured that Mongol vibe nicely. \m/

Welcome back!

can't WB without you!

happy new year!

enjoyed this on stream with the gang

It occurred to me that I didn't comment, but I just wanted to pop back in on this one, show me love, and say I listened to it during the Weeklymeet and thought the throat singing as a central component of this piece was really cool and awesome smile

Absolutely cinematic. Each instruments individual sound shines through every progression making its presence felt while maintaining unity throughout the whole score.

epic vibes. makes want to listen to it and play RDR2. Great job!

woaaaah dude c'est malade ça!!! On dirait un mix de musique traditionelle norvegienne et mongole en meme temps
