SAD. STILL UNHINGED.

Dogs pee on everything I love too but they call it "affection".

heart

the melody with these chords are so soothing heart the saddest chords! this will be stuck in my head forever thank you

Big mood. Saddness achieved!

Man, I love this. I really loved the "i heard you play the saddest chords" vocal melody!

This is so great and such a tonal shift from last week. All of the emotions. I can't wait for the sultry seductive version.

Wait what, just had a stray.capture my heart man, pissing in all the dreams. Sounds beautiful as always!

So pretty and sad, my favorite vibes. That lyric about the saddest chords is so good!

I like how there's a connection to last week's track, but with such a completely different tone and mood.  It's cozy and soothing and feels like a much needed hug.  I also dig the lo-fi vibe.  It gives me a little Elephant 6 or early Sebadoh feels.

Nailed it. Pretty and sad, wonderfully executed.

oh man... and the continuity from last week... it seems there might be some story telling a foot ( ✧≖ ͜ʖ≖)... this is gonna be a good year... for art anyway.  ┐(~ー~;)┌

Are those tape warbles from that Waves J37 emulation?  And if so, did you do that with automatons or what?

Yep, "pretty & sad" absolutely defines it. I very much enjoy your quiet "sad guitar +melancholic vocals" songs. Makes me think "This is what folk music is all about, man!!! It's so pretty!!!"
Great job!!!

I love the range of emotions your voice can deliver. You've got a beautiful instrument.

it's for sure pretty and sad, crying and partying rn </3

This is amazing. So moving and I love that you are able to channel that energy into something beautiful. Feels like important work. The "heard you like to party" line in this mournful voice is very moving. Thanks jwh!

Vocal harmonies are beautiful ❤️.

Great touching performance. More of jwh/Emily duos please!!!

The juxtaposition of last week and this reminds me of Placebo's "In the Cold Light of Morning". Conceptually speaking, not musically. The morning after the party. "Tomorrow's only a kettle whistle away".

I can't sing for shit, but one thing I know is that it's harder to sing quiet. And you make it sound easy.

This song belongs in the acid-driven trips of the '60s. But also the grunge basements of the '90s. And the indie music scene of Omaha, Nebraska in the early '00s. And a cabin in Dunn County, Wisconsin some time later.

Boy, this one hits hard coming right after your week one track, but I'm totally here for it. Beautiful stuff jwh. heart

such a good song. warm, cozy, moody, and silly. loved it!

the rare sequel that's as good as the original

I love last week’s rocker but this is my kind of party.

Heartmelt

ooooooh.

I so. so. soooo love the contrast compared to last weeks version.
Hit me right in the feels.

this is quite the downer party
tho it's a good performance
- Ebrit

As other said, the "I heard you play the saddest chords" is very very beautiful. Loved the piece, thanks for that one smile

I like this, it's intimate and ethereal, yet catchy.

stop playin with my emotions

unless you can keep this motif going... In which case I will be curious to see how far it can be taken

From the very opening had me floored. Can we pencil in a collab maybe based on this? Maybe not. I know you’re busy this year, so imma just leave this collab idea as a whisper in your ear for way way later.

Absolutely one of my faves, love this one. (Kinda imagining some stuff immediately for same song / different sounds)

Haha feeling a smidge different from last weeks tongue

I'd say you succeeded in your mission smile

This song reminds me of the past few Church dances ive been at since breaking up with girlfriend, its so sad,

I love the "sway" that this songs got

THANK YOU
whisper = received! would be honored & excited. i'll send you a dm on the discord.

also "pencil" i see what you did there! heart

Ah, it is pretty and sad! Well the party lyric something different now! Great work. Lovely singing.

love this, just a really great sounding song now!  the guitar feels lovely, just the right amount of warm.

wait it works so well with last weeks song! looking forward to 50 more versions of this with different emotions

I am neither sad nor at a party yet this piece immediately took me there. What a beautiful recording.

Perfect. Love the little harmony moments in the vocals.
Is this the intro to last weeks track? Or is it the other way around?

Beautiful track, and a great counterpart to week 01.  I really, really dig the vocal harmonies.

(Enigmatic tags for this week include "hiss blankets" and "inside me are two wolves" tongue)

Again some nice warble on this one, matches great with your delicate vocals, love that portion at 1:20.  Great B-side to last weeks track, imagine this as a nice 7 inch, first image on one side and this weeks on the other, would make a killer sleeve.

Never thought I would enjoy the sound of the sentence "when dogs piss on our dreams" but here we are. Beautiful.

Your vocals are absolutely magical. Love this track.

oh hey, so nice.  i really like the range you have.  hope you are good and find some nice things in all that noise.

I really like this song a lot! I hadn't heard last week's until today when I saw the comments that this was a kind of sequel. I guess that's not the intended order, but I really liked hearing the sadder somber version followed by the noisy version. Really told a story!

A lovely melancholic sound to it.  Vocals and guitar blend is super smooth.  It's working nicely with the sounds of the native birds in my front yard.  ☺️

for art, yes!  heart
these particular warbles are (mostly) from Goodhertz WOW. i frickin love it (and TUPE is killer as well). and yeah, there is an "amount multiplier" slider that i was able to automate. it can get absolutely BONKERS, so i tried not to go overboard.

thanks so much, rdomain. i recorded the vocals and guitar at the same time (and then doubled it doing the same thing). i tend to like how that feels these days, rather than just singing isolated.
please tell your yard birbs that i said hi  heart

Dig this progression and the quality of the recording really takes it somewhere specific that's hard to describe, but I'm happy enough feeling it

A very very nice one. Love it.

The continuity from one week to another is so fun! The guitar has a lot of breathing room, the vocals clear and beautiful, great mixing. Sounds amazing! Also when you put this one from you profile “I HEARD U LIKE TO PARTY” comes on immediately after which somehow completely makes sense.

That's a cool idea really double taking the unison guitar/vocal take.  It'd be quite organic.

very Elliott Smith in the best/saddest way

the tape warble at 1:24 made the song

was that intentional?  how did it happen?

heart oh what a nice surprise
love the elliot smith/eric's trip vibe!
what range, I'll keep checking back!

Wow, this one really hits, especially as a follow-up to the previous version. Cathartic in an entirely different way, well done.
