You Heard I Like To Party

tldr: sampling jwh's week 1 and week 2 submissions to create this track.

Storytime kids, sit around and listen somewhat carefully.
It was a long time ago, 2026, Weekly Beats Week 1 just ended, and I was listening to jwh's week 1 submission.
A thought popped into my mind: "Turn this into some minimal techno, Yoeri, do it, do it".
And as the big Mufusual in the sky faded, I thought, why not?

I asked jwh for permission, and he was so kind to send me the stems.
I took all kinds of little bleeps and bloops, mangled pieces, and mainly used Waves's "Ovox" synth to create new sounds from his stems.
The track was progressing somewhat nicely; it wasn't great, but good enough.
then, Ovox started acting out, it kept resetting itself and nothing sounded the same, and since I already experienced Ovox doing this a few years prior, I gave up trying to get it fixed.
By then, Week 2 was over, and jhw posted an alternative version of his week one submission, and I really loved the vocals.
Again, asking jwh for permission to use these on top of the samples I had from his week 1 submission.

For almost 12-or-so hours (over a couple of days), these vocals would repeat over and over again, putting me in some trancelike state while I was figuring out how to use the few surviving samples from my previous attempt.
Believe me, I kept hearing these vocals even in my sleep, hehe.
Eventually, I dropped the hard limit on only using samples collected by cutting up/wrangling/distorting the stems and just went with the flow.

By the time I was halfway through the track, I sadly needed to pick up the pace, as my current client suddenly set a tight deadline, and a new client with a tight deadline was added to my agenda. Ahh, life, always getting in the way of the plans we make.
So In two additional few hour sesions I winged it, went with the flow, and this is the result.
There's def some stuff I'd redo, tweak, and edit, but the most important thing is that I had a fun time creating it.
Something, something, trying to create shorter tracks, something, something, always next time.

Special thanks to jwh for being an awesome person and sending me the stems.
Be sure to listen to his tracks, I really love them.

Since I own a bleeeepload of VSTs but always fall back to the same ones, I made a list of all the VSTs I own and will try to incorporate some of them every week.

Sounds great!

What a great collab! Ominous, and with a cool groove.

Hail yais! Love the laid back feel of the whole groove.  Bass N Drums with the jwh vocals was an instant head nodder.  The beat drop midway was suhweet.  Oooh yes the 303 coming in on the left and then exploding with the squelchy goodness is excellent.  \m/

DUDE. Yes.

Yoooo this is really good! Love the gnarly effect on the vocals, I can see how this would hypnotize you big_smile

This reminds me so much of something, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I love it, though! Great job smile

Wow... this is soo awesome... just entrancingly dark.  The vocal processing is amazing, borderline evil at time... and the at acid line at like 6:20... instant fav.  Great work. ~( °٢° )~

Sheesh heart

quite the trip to the party D:

oh damn clicked submit too soon, that phoscyon line and tone is fiiiiireeeeeee

Reeeally nice flow, very understated but effective. Would love to take an arrangement lesson or two!

Hell yeah! No notes, great track!

The party continues. This time with a beat.

Holy F*CK! This is is sooo amazing! I can't even find words. ... and 5:00 just hit, and we're in a new realm again. And 6:10 ... where are we now!? This is a wild ride ... so good! Great work on this whole epic song!

WOW, what a way to keep the party going! What a journey, love the slowly creeping buildup and the way you processed the vocal.
Then the turnaround at 5:00 is such cool way to change it up, love the scrappy 303 sound.

These are the urges that will make WB26 unique. Let's carry that energy to the end.

Fuck yeah, I like to party 🎉.

Solid remix.

I like rock n roll but I like this A LOT as well.

And yeah I have to agree with others about the awesome fx work on the vocal lines.

Damn you did put quite a bit of work and love into this.

Creepy AF! Chucky is er niets bij! and more than 8 minutes, where in the hell did you find the time!?

I absolutely LOVE the minimalist vibe here. Vocal effects are on point. Nice switch-up at 5min, too!  Agree with Spider… the creative urges like this and playing off each other are magical.

Okay... This is amazing! Could definitely dance to this. Love the drums, bass, and the arrangement.

Takes an artist to hear what Josh made and recognize the possibility of this. The track sounds like it was that from the beginning. The dark subdued drive fits the autotuned lyrics very well, and when the 303 drops it's a great payoff.

Kudos, no notes, five stars.

Great job!

the tone of it is super nice. reminds me of the atmosphere of listening to nfs carbon ost as a kid. prime midnight listening experience at 3pm

Awesome, great reinterpretation. Love what you did with the vox. Good slow burner ebb and flow, hooked me in.

I really like the beginning and the ending!

Great Track!

This sounds so menacing and dark!!!! Hahahah I friggin love it!!!

This party sounds dark, sinister, and like I'm going to die. I'm in. I love this. I guess now that other people are doing it, I'm gonna have to think about a remix of jwh's track.

Whoa, I almost missed this somehow, and that would have been an incredible shame.  Way to completely reimagine the source material into something radically different yet it sounds like it was always intended to be this way.

omg jwh & As_Yoesual in Depeche Mode territory?!!??!!?

SICK

Believe me, I kept hearing these vocals even in my sleep, hehe.

i think i will now too 🤣

Loved this, really appreciated how it kept the ironic lyrics of the original in spite of being a banger. heart

this is the kind of music id end up with on my hard drive somehow after downloading stuff on limewire in 2008 and im here for it
