open heart

for Bil, and for you.
--
there is a bird staring out the window
a little bird, sad-eyed but strong
this bird has an open heart, and friend
so do you

there is a bird, bringing you love
in the form that you need
in the form of a bird
bringing you love

more beautiful stuff from you smile love the lush reverb and the lofi vocal tone

Really liking the vibe of this one.  Makes me want to smile at the birds outside.  Excellent guitar work also.

Beautiful! heart

Listening to this brought me so much joy. And watching the video, I pondered, how respectful of a friend's boundaries to simply leave them out of the picture. Wow! I am totally smitten with this collaboration. So happy for y'all. And us all, the listeners. Sheesh!

Listened on da youtubez first but love the sound of the guitar.  It sits in such a calming space while the bass holds out its hand in support.  The buildup was very cinematic and the lyrics got me.  I wish the birds outside stared back when i look out my window. *solitary_tear*

A beautiful, encouraging dream!

Really cool vibe, perfect backdrop to the day.

Dang, really beautiful and understated.  Great mix and love the way the vocals fit in.  Lovely ending as well!

perfectly concise songwriting beauty smile

Well this calmed, warmed, and opened my heart!

excellent production! lyrics, voice, guitar work, sound, the works

Wow, this is really sweet! Nice to have you on the WB's!

Wow, the instruments are just so perfectly placed and balanced in this. Great song, great recording. The build around 2 minutes is so tasty. Really loving your stuff.

Noot noot.

thank you all so much for listening and for your kind words.

This is beautiful, thank you.

this just started IN the song which was cool

WOW this seriously started developing

the keys underneath the guitars made this - i want to make music like this but it's so scary.  slow and few instruments = hella vulnerable (to me)

awesome work, you are crushing wb!

thank you so much, Drew. and i know you can do anything you set your mind to. heart

Really enjoyed this tune and the slow build! Also I saw in your bio that you are in The Rutabega. Random connection but I think I recorded some strings by Billie Howard and Brendan Finucane for one of your tunes a few years back. Welcome to wb!

they've played on 2 albums, but i think it was probably track 7 (a willow strong) on this one:
