let's keep going

there is no one i would rather climb with
i can see the waves from over here
you said yes, let's go
nevermind the ice and snow
i'm ready, let's go see the stars

there is no one i would rather cry with
our tears will be the water for the trees
you said take it slow
we can watch the garden grow
i'm ready, let's plant something new

there is no one i would rather die with
i just hope it happens when we're old
you said take my hand
we'll turn into the land
i'm ready, let's keep going

Nice sweet lyrics and a beautiful song.  I was waiting for that guitar explosion and when it came it was highly gratifying.

Beautiful song. I really love the way you blend the clean guitar with the effected one. Really fills up the room.

On a side note, I discovered your song Poughkeepsie a couple weeks ago. I can't stop listening to it. Fellow Schlesinger fan here. Wonderful tribute you did.

Not to sound repetitive but damn.  Beautiful song, beautiful lyrics.  Love the quiet intro with the rhythmic strumming and sliding guitar.  This phrase got me, "you said yes, let's go, nevermind the ice and snow, i'm ready, let's go see the stars"  gonna have to play this again nao.  Also tanks for steering me in the right direction with your quick reply.  Mucho appreciated.

A very nice track and a fantastic production. Well done.

Some really really solid songwriting here. Great production and sound. Love it heart

This is incredible—the sound, lyrics, instrumentation, performance, meter, mood, mixing—it feels glorious when everything kicks in after "let's play something new."  I can't believe you are both kicking out tracks of this quality week after week while performing on both. +fav

Love the vibe of this song.  Both vocal and guitar processing are great too. Kinda got old school Iron & Wine vibes maybe... not sure, it reminds me of something but I can't place it (which kind of makes it a perfect song)... but, whatever I like it a lot.  ヽ(♡‿♡)ノ

Great work! Favorited!

so kind of you for checking out 'poughkeepsie!' yeah, i didn't know Schlesinger personally but his music has meant a lot to me. his death hit me pretty heard and really made the pandemic seem more real in a way. i worked out an arrangement for 'I've Got a Flair' shortly after he passed, and that kinda set in motion that "fountains of joshua wayne" EP. that was also when i started using Reaper and i thought working on an EP would be a good way to learn how to use a new DAW. i wrote 'poughkeepsie' after reading a few articles and interviews with and about Adam (there was a Rolling Stone interview with C.Collingwood that especially struck me and inspired several of the lines). i love how FoW songs like 'Hackensack' could really bring to mind a specific setting and hoped to achieve something similar with 'poughkeepsie.'
anyway, that's probably TMI! thanks again  smile

Not TMI! Thanks for sharing the story behind the song. Hackensack is also one of my personal faves. I tracked down the RS interview (https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/adam-schlesinger-fountains-of-wayne-chris-collingwood-980798/), thanks for the tip

Awesome, moving. Love the lyrics, great stuff. The guitar climax was satisfying, I love songs that build up like this, thanks for the moment!
