I changed things up and recorded a drums and guitar piece that I messed with on the comp. it's sorta jazzy, sorta scifi lounge

mayhem was supposed to play in my town..but they wanted like $2000 just for food and booze

I'd rather get the melvins, they play for $3300 big_smile

listened to some female fronted sludge metal bands like Subrosa, Witch Mountain and Blood Ceremony, as well as a bunch of other sludge and stoner metal bands I found on metalbandcamp.com

week 7 was kinda weird overall

I've been designing some weird combinations of instruments and trying for some bizarre textured ambience

I think my piece is an experiment in being more live. ended up with a ton of material (20 minute jam) that I tried to edit down some. could have been more editing but I got obsessed with the mix since the recording was a little weird I did a lot of filtering and eq, comp/exp, etc

week 6 = my favorite piece I've made so far

listening to so much music my brain is going to collapse

good lord, I now have a TON of new stuff to listen to! my other stuff on the sitari bandcamp is pretty good too, including the 2 hour long Uptown album, which was all created when I lived in uptown chicago. miss that 'hood.

vinpous, cool to see that you have an improv related project too! that's what my band island is all about, but we don't play straight up jazz (would kind of like to but the band members have too diverse a background I guess/we are all self taught). the other link you posted was a broken link btw.

wanted to see what everyone was doing musically before this year. to get the ball rolling, one of my tracks from a few years ago popped up on random, and I think it's one you guys might like.

I can't believe that I forgot to mention Kevin Shields/MBV as a key influence. and for picking up the guitar, Page Hamilton/Peter Mengede of Helmet were pretty key for that too.
