I'm attempting to learn Max/MSP a bit more with this week, creating a 4 part piece using a random-generation polyphonic synth. I would like to make it serial with random reorderings of stuff, but I don't think I have the know-how yet, to pull that off. We will see what tomorrow brings amongst doing research proposals and critical annotations and stuff. :\

Whinge #1: I need to earn (or obtain through other means) just a bit more money each week!

I've decided to conform and participate in this aleatoric theme... and by aleatoric I mean whatever kind of random comes to mind at the time. I mainly just want to use PD again, so I shall.

You conformist, you. smile

I can't wait to hear people's aleatory.

... That's also some gnarly spreadsheeting, cTrix. big_smile

It was meant as a joke. Please! Get over yourself!

Agreed the themes are a bit meh. It was a cool idea until the weekly round up for them happened.

Seriously? An optional theme is making people leave? It's a challenge, not a competition, do what you want? Or don't? Who cares? /confused

The rubber ball would be aleatoric, yes.

I'm in for aleatoric music. I've done quite a bit of it in the past too, and some of the pieces I did in the first few weeks are at least partially aleatoric! Fun times.

Try another browser. I just tested in Chrome (on OSX): nothing. Tried Safari - no problem.

Can't upload from Melbourne? We do have internets here. tongue

Spry: if you play an instrument, try doing a convincing, musical solo with only one note! It's awesome!

Submitted my piece in line with this theme!

Yup. Now, here's my question: Can we switch the chords up and down octaves, or are they stuck in a single octave?

In musical theory, there is no difference between A0, A1, A2, A3, A4 etc. It's called octave equivalence. For my $0.02, I'd say that you can use the same four notes in any register.
