So, it's official. My partner and I are coming to the Saturday (and probably Sunday) parts of Blip. I'm sorry little-scale and Trash80, I would have liked to see you guys play, but we just can't afford both nights. Hope to meet some of you characters in the person at some stage during the event.

OOh, how did I forget King Crimson!?

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Live Art, mostly.

Lols, so neither of my two aforementioned hints mean much. I'm now doing a trio. >.>

Stockhausen!

Many, many inspirationals for me.

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones (and Vic Wooten as a bassist)
Igor Stravinsky
Arnold Schoenberg (doubly so at the moment)
Toru Takemitsu
John Cage
Olivier Messiaen
Pierre Boulez
Stan Kenton
Bjork
Feist

Just... so many, could go on and on and on and on.

I think though the most inspirational people are those brave enough to pursue what they love irrespective of any criticism, lack of support and/or financial hardships that may occur.

Bah. Two different concepts for this week, feeling too lazy to finish the design for one (to do with long-scale network traversal), and completely engaged with the other, but feeling inadequate with regard to PD programming ability and understanding of the nature of granular synthesis. So, what I'm attempting to do, is resynthesize my voice (or any audio input) using grains of samples, but it's really not working. Bah!

Heh, WeeklyBeaters... heh.
I may be coming to this thing, I'm not sure at the moment though as I'm broke as all buggery. We will see, we will see.

Hey George, many thanks for the feature! Too kind of you. smile

Hm, duet will have to wait until this coming week, new hint for 17 hours away from now: bass, lots and lots of bass. Three of them, in fact.

I'm under the impression that whatever you upload is whatever gets streamed, the limit is filesize rather than duration or bitrate. The only thing I can think of the explains the phenomenon is that if you play the mp3 in your media player (Winamp, iTunes, Media Player, etc) there is LIKELY to be some EQ colouring performed by the software, which isn't happening with the streaming version.

Compilations are a cool idea. Start a small netlabel for it or something. I'm going to release collections of my weekly beats anyway, in the future.

Hnnnggggg... probably unable to record my piece for this week. To MIDI, or to submit something else...

Hint for next week... duet, acoustic music. Hopefully I can get a recording in time...

Pyronetiks: I definitely agree, and didn't mean to indicate otherwise. Conversely, I also agree with Lazerbeat, in that it's a personal challenge. I suppose it's much like any community, the more input the more output? Heh.

It's a bit inevitable in any 'community', especially where aesthetic differences are involved. People will quickly learn which artists write stuff that they like - generally - and which don't. I try to listen to everything, but I don't LIKE everything and I don't expect everyone (or anyone) to like my music. 'Tis a personal challenge to release 52 pieces of music while doing everything else we're doing, and the benefits are clear for discipline and artistic practice, not to mention folio building!
