The most famous scream in the history of the world in cheesy electronic renditions of ideas expressed by Ligeti? I think so!
Taking kitsch to a whole new level...

It's like Nadia Boulenger (or however it's spelled), massive impact on 20th century music, but hardly talked about in favour of Bartok et al.

Haha big_smile She wasn't a composer (as far as I'm aware): http://www.sdsc.edu/ScienceWomen/lovelace.html

I threw her name in for good measure.

I've never heard of Boulenger. neutral

The music of science? Heh, clearly, I'd heard the name but not the context. Silly me! sad

Unfortunately, I've not heard much of Boulanger's music. But, amongst others, she taught John Cage.

Mmm...how many people have heard of Daphne Oram? How many have heard of ADA LOVELACE?

During my entire undergraduate mus tech. degree we were introduced to the work of a total of THREE electronic/electroacoustic music composers (and note that the preface to each introduction began with a mention of their sex/sexual orientation – i.e. a&b are lesbians, c is now a woman). Very gay, indeed.

In any event, the real author of the 10 Rules was Sister Corita Kent and her art students at the time (did you check the link I posted?). I don't know about "genius", inspired, yes. heart

...Cage is still most excellent. big_smile

That'st rue, inspired is a better term. I've heard of Lovelace too, but am not familiar with her music.

It's like Nadia Boulenger (or however it's spelled), massive impact on 20th century music, but hardly talked about in favour of Bartok et al.

I love that set of rules for teachers and students.

I hate that it constantly gets attributed to Cage.

THERE ARE NO GREAT FEMALE ARTISTS.

Oram?

But yes, I hear what you're saying. Cage gets attributed to it due to posting it at Merce Cunningham's dance studio, so I understand...

The real author should be attributed! They are genius.

Noice. What year will it take place, so us non-futuredwellers can check it out? tongue

Thanks dudes, and for the follows on SC.

Thanks. smile

This is a live performance of a reasonably large piece I wrote this year, thought you guys might like to hear some other stuff I do.

EDIT (20/9/2012):
So this composition has been selected for an award, plus there's a people's choice and I'm in the running for the main prize too. Woo!

Feel free to share/vote/etc on the link below, and check out the rest of the exhibition, there's some really phenomenal stuff. If you live in Sydney or are going to be in Sydney on the 19th, there's a bit of a shindig at a gallery. Come and say hi.

I really appreciate the support and everything.

Rad. A few shitty uploads, but not everything one does is a masterpiece...

Go dudes and dudettes, go!

All the best mate, your work is great. Keep it up!

This week's (26) piece was done in 27 minutes, and it sucks. But hey... can't win 'em all!
