140bpm
then all the tracks will be good for me to work out to. *boogie*
ahh ur right. I just fav'd my own track and now im back to #7 lol
.. tis a bit daft, should just be randomised at the start and thats it... then a search criteria for 'most favorited'
so.... about the default order i.e. when you simply click "music" in the header
This week I logged in bright and early 5min after the clock rolled over and I was about 10th from the top.
30 min later I logged in and I was about 5th from the bottom with the usual chip producers in the first 10 - obviously this is going to effect the amount of airplay / critique one might receive being last on the list.
Does the default order get modified by an admin? Odd that the first off the rank seem to always be the popular chip artists; which I think defeats the purpose of the site if that is the case. If the site is to give preference to chip artists then we may as well head back to 8bc.
it's all about practise and forcing myself to be creative.
sometimes something good happens and sometimes it stinks but i'm having fun with it. it's the journey, not the destination(s)
fyi audiophiles...
i cant find much literature on browser specs unfortunately but a little experiment i did...
* decode rate of mp3 is 44khz/16bit
* soundcard (WDM mixer output device) set to 44khz/16bit - normally i would output to ASIO device for uber quality
* foobar2000 player output set to 44khz/16bit
* i assume browser follows windows system/WDM mixer bitrates
so all things being equal...
there is an option in foobar to 'dither audio' when i have that off (as i would prefer things, native digital bit-for-bit reproduction) foobar sounds 'crisper' in the top end.
when i turn it on however, it sounds practically the same as the browser - so at this stage (with my subjective testing) i am assuming the browser is dithering the output audio.
question answered? TBC...
i'm really enjoying the challenge
this week i was working on a track which i thought was going to be 'the one' but got stuck with it on friday, so decided to just go in a completely different direction with something random and hey presto! this weeks submission just popped out of thin air hehe
sometimes quantity is better than quality for getting things done
so I've noticed that the quality of mp3's played natively on my PC vs through the browser (I've tested ie, ff, chrome) always seems diminished through the browser.
so much so - that upon hearing them through the browser after uploading to weeklybeats i've oft been inclined to remove, remaster and reupload them so they sound better (maybe a good thing)
can anyone comment on the loss of audio quality?
does wb.com transcode after upload? is it a browser format thing?
I only just found out there's a "Music you haven't listened to" filter option on the Music page uhuh
there were at least 20+ I missed in weeks one and two ... catching up!
yeh mang .. get the PRO's (not the Silver or -13's)
High impedance and kickass frequency response 8Hz - 25KHz. They set the benchmark for the price range and outperform a lot more expensive brands.
Cheaper on eBay if you're on a budget.
edit: Headphones are like a good Display IMO ... you can replace all your kit but a decent display/headphones will last you through many computers/systems/upgrades. Worth the investment.
HD280 PRO's look like the best bang-for-buck
hehe just figured it out .. soz
Ooh filters ... even better. I need my eyes checked.
Edit: Oh I just discovered you can sort the submissions by date by clicking on "Date" .. duh
The randomness was making it difficult to ensure I hadn't missed any songs.
/thread. Thankyou.
I blorp and blarp wherever possible.
i could always go for a drive...
I'm thinking of leveraging some vocal 'stabs' for my second track - i'll be impressed if you can pick what song they're from, as they're all less than half a second each e.g. a "vowel sound"
Pretty sure they will fall under "fair use", as It's non-commercial and it's not like I'm lifting a whole riff or bar or whatever.
Than again, I might do something completely different! Who knows!
