Vivant au vent

By djippy on January 11, 2026 7:07 pm

An instrumental for you guys this week.

Did use the Baritone Strat. Added supermassive. A bass guitar. Drums, delays...

If I come back to it, I'll probably tweak a bit some drums parts, I'd like to do a tuning session as well for my hi-tom, but still I feel that it sounds punchy and fun.

For mix, did mostly add compression, did cut lows to one of the guitar tracks, some reverbs.

Here is a fun picture of old Mtl (and my commuter bike) from a "back to home commuter ride".

This is is for the music bits, maybe 3 sessions of 2 hrs. Not that long of tracking, mostly finding where to "make the instruments sit"...

And as I said on week 1, trying to get "fit" this year, so on this end it wasn't too bad according to my new smartwatch, I did about 10h of training (mostly biking, indoor, but outdoor as well) and I did hit a big milestone - 200 pounds (90 kg)... (Started at about 215 about 3 months ago)

It is difficult to get into the groove - having a nice routine for Music Making, but happy about this week output.

Take care all! See you next week!

I instantly fell in love with this. Supermassive is such an amazing warm stereo reverb.
A love the tone and the huge moody shoegaze vibe this gives off. It's all my favorite bits of Mogwai.
Instant favorite. Amazing job.

Guitar sounds great.  I especially liked when everything kicked up a notch around 1:39.  But the slower guitar runs leading up to it have a great plaintive quality and make that moment hit even harder.

this is gorgeous city-walkin music. love the guitar tone and overall panning going on. Kinda creates the vibe of being in the room where this is being performed. Great work

Awesome vibes, beautiful haunting guitar, really love this track, great job!

love the sound of the guitar with your drums heart excellent mix and such a head nodder laid back groove!

Sounds fantastic. Feels like a peaceful walk home at sunset, after a long night

Supermassive might be the best free plugin of all time. Doing its job spectacularly here. Great vibe.

oh dang, that baritone sounds sooo nice through the supermassive.
drums sound great too. that spacious intro section is heavenly.
bike picture is rad too!

Oooh this is really nice!

Also trying to get a little more fit this year, biking to work and keeping up with WB…let’s start a support group lol

really lovely vibe; gave me a bit of a vampire the masquerade vibe at the start which is one of my favorite soundtracks ever written! sounds fantastic heart

This has a really nice shoegaze vibe to it, especially the second part. Love the guitar sound, that reverb sounds amazing!

Very sweet movements here

I like both part of the track, but yeah it moves a bit more on the second part!

Merci!

Yeah, did try to make the mix wide, drums are always drummer perspective when I mix my drums as well and I feel the panning-mix for this fits well. smile Thanks!

It might be! There are tons of very cool free plugins nowadays, (or most daws come with very good ones)
Supermassive does have a thing for very long reverbs tho. Thanks for the kind word!

Thanks a lot! There are some similarities with your slow paced tracks with some heavy guitars, looking forward to listen to your next track!

Thanks!

Really digging this!

That intro guitar really grabbed me. Very tasty, love the verb. Then that little harmonic is nice too.

I think my brain wanted one more thing going on. Vox or if not words some other thing.

Bikes r cool

I really like the way this song breaths.

Love the darkness of the baritone.
Sounds like a lazy sunday with a hint of longing.

really nice guitar tone, love how the drums sit a bit further back in the mix. great atmosphere, super fun listen

If you want to grab it and add stuff to it, feel free to do so, I don't mind changing the copyrights selection...

Thanks! Yeah, did try to find the right space for every elements in the mix. (With the time given, didn't over think it neither...)

You guys Rock!
See you next Sunday!

cinematic and warm! I think the toms sound good.

Pleasant listen, the low tones feel deep like a dark chocolate cake

Very relaxing music! I think this would go well with vocals too! Have you considered that?

i like this sorta quiet little trip, would go to a local concert of this band! smile

Loving this! Very chill smile

Thanks a lot! Yeah, toms sounds like an acoustic drum tom... Not sure if processing or tuning or what really bothers me about the hi-tom, but I like the overall vibe anyways.

I love dark chocolate. That with a coffee! smile

I didn't at that point, I have a pretty full schedule with 3 kids from 5 to 14 years old, full time job so the instrumental kind of atmospheric track was the plan for this one. smile

but yeah, it might be great with vocals as well. (I must confess I do not enjoy that much singing, but sometimes it is cool too.)
Thanks a lot for the kind comment.

Yeah, I need to hire some musician then... (Or work on some live looping setup.) Thanks!

and now I miss playing drums

Yes!

I love how spacious this feels. The baritone tuning is immense! Very enjoyable.
