The Birds Sing at Home (and the Dinos Roar There Too)

Someone told me to make electro swing. This was quite the journey, but I think I got it.

It's not a genre we're used to (and considering there's maybe one other electro swing song on this site to my recollection, neither is anyone else). It was tricky getting the right sounds. There's three levels of those, if you want an authentic trumpet sound, you record an actual fucking trumpet; if you want a convincing one, spend roughly the same amount of money for a fancy VST; if you just want to make music, you just go with what you got, lean in on the trash, and hope the vibes carry you. Naturally I'm going for the last option.

Played it side-by-side to some other electro swing, ones that don't sample an entire song from the whenevers, and it seems to fit well enough.

Perhaps next time I can turn it/whatever I learned into chip metal. Ask me if you feel like making some electro swing yourself.

Nice!

i want to see my name on the alerts on stream

This was unexpectedly amazing! Curious to hear you tackle other genres!

I’m getting heavy Pokémon vibes from this.  Like I just entered a bustling metropolis on my bike and I’m finding Eevees left and right

Indeed.

You will have to quote me then. Comments left on my songs will only show up as "[song] has comments".

It's a worthwhile endeavor, picking it apart, see what the elements are.

I can see that, though Eevee tends to be a rather rare mon in the wild. Certainly a bird would be more likely.

WELP that didn't work - great track though, love the trumpet, very fun and playful

Thanks man. You should try electro swing, just for a single week.

I love the funky bass and that melodic phrase on the horn! Makes me think of Paper Mario.

I 100% have wanted to!  I want to play a fun trumpet line but I can't really play that fast atm, so I gotta work on da CHOPS

There's something so fun that it reminds of the energy of the chocobo theme. Love the horns and super dance-able.

very charming. start and end piano for some reason reminds me of snoopy. good stuff

I don't think there was a horn. There's a sax and two completely different trumpets though.
This could do worse than Paper Mario for sure.

Then don't, you don't have to play an entire melody on trumpet. Just little stabs is also good. Layer them into a chord and it's equally electro swing.

I see that. It wouldn't be electro swing if it wasn't danceable.

Using that theme would also be very suitable for the genre.

so fun!!!!

oooh super fun track and love that the birds are rappin along.  love how the melodies play off each other too. well done!

This put a big dumb smile on my face! smile
Really fun song!

That beginning is not something I expected to hear from the chip metal factory, but it totally works. I'd say the birds sing at the house, because, y' know, house music. Geddit.

OK, I'll see myself out.

This is great! I love the vibe of electro swing and you did a great job capturing that.

Toot toot! Toot toot! Nice

Gotta make it authentic, and it's not ours unless there's birds.
I can see room for some tweaks, but yea, it's solid.

It is full of silly and whimsy, all in the name of a good time.

You have no idea how much restrain it took me not to do that, but I wanted to capture the title of an old swing song from before house was a thing.

Thanks, it wasn't easy, but it's a very broad genre with a surprising amount of leeway. The examples range from just some dance beats over a definitely still copyrighted song, to wall-to-wall chopped up samples, to basically this.

We have toots at home.

This is a ton of fun!

The horn sounds especially remind me of making MIDI music in the late 90s. Love that vibe.

This is really fun. It fits really well with a game I’m making if you’re open to any collab there. Also, *makes a phone call* you know that new sound you’ve been looking for? Listen to this!!!!

what a fun ride!

DELIGHT

Hahaha I absolutely love your trumpet. Also the almost-house piano is pretty delightful. Super fun!

What jam, love the trumpet lead!  Great to hear the bird and dinosaur again too.

Think you can catch that vibe again? The world definitely needs more fun.

You know I am.
Unless you don't, then yes, I'm definitely down.

Very scientifically designed piano patterns based on research, engineered to be max fun.

How could they not be, they needed to be there. They're honestly a really good fit for the genre.

Thank you.

Loving this - the bass, those keys, that brass, it all comes together in one fun combo! And yes, I dig the bird / dino pairing in this one. big_smile
