Happy Weekly Beats Year! Excited to be back with y’all, oddly saying hello with a “goodbye” kind of song. Starting out with a slightly moody tune. This one almost escaped the slide guitar treatment but here we are, predictably.

Oh man, that lift into the chorus... literally gave me goosebumps... strong opener for the year. Just lovely.
Oof. Normally I'd listen to a track, write a few things about things that caught my attention, maybe add a bit of nitpicking.
Here I'm just finding myself staring at the wall thinking of all the people that disappeared from my life where we never said our definite goodbyes. We just met one day, not knowing it would be for the last time, and that was that.
That "don't run" mantra also speaks to me. As in "live in the moment", as in "don't let your worries distract you from the present". In the context of the song it's a separate message, but maybe one that you can only communicate because it's a piece of parting wisdom.
As for unsolicited feedback, I know you didn't ask, but the lyrics work better with the line you allegedly accidentally omitted. You also sing "giving me chase" while the lyrics say the opposite. Again, what you actually sang works better. It builds meaning with the next verse, it also makes it clear "don't run" is about something else. I don't make the rules: the art wanted what it wanted. The recorded lyrics are canon now.
Ooof the lyrics hit hard. "believer of second chances" </3 Beautiful slide guitar and just such a lovely song altogether. The chorus makes me want to sing along. Got me slowly swayin in my chair to not break down. Goosebumps indeed.
