The Shattered Spine

By ViridianLoom on April 14, 2024 10:26 pm

Feeling a bit creatively bankrupt this week so I pulled up some old shit from like 2013 that I never recorded. Deets in the song notes. Also, this song has like zero dynamics, lol. It’s LOUD. Some legit speed trash on account of I made this last night, it's 190bpm, and the mix sounds like it's inside a trashcan.

Woah blast from the past! I'm so glad you recorded and put this up. This is awesome. I love the guitar tones you have in this. Also the syncopated riffage in this song is so good! This made me very happy to hear.

based and slop pilled.

banger.

Rips!

Whoa - way to pack a punch right out of the gate! Even without the death screams, I can feel the growling vibe you're going for. That winding guitar solo toward the end totally gripped me too!

There's definitely some implied growling going on. Is your dog in any of your recordings?

lol, actually yes. I recorded his barks and tug-of-war growls for a metal song in 2022 called Moog Emerges. I think that song is probably cooler than this one, mostly because dog.

Pretty cool that you remember it! I don't think we ever played it in the garage but I definitely must have showed you the guitar pro files haha.

Wow that felt good! Loud and 190bpm - that just sounds perfect to me. It was both heavy and groovy, like some good old carcass.

Like to hear you freaking out in a territory I have never been to. It has an instand impact on my adrenaline level. Thank you for waking me up.

Same, I skipped my second cup of coffee this morning. XD Fun track!

The energy is undeniable and the mix is surprisingly listenable for a trashcan! A bit of "My Arms, You Hearse" vibes, a bit of "Iowa" vibes. This takes me back.

Dude, this song is so 2013 you. haha I love the trash!

Tons of energy, killin it! Tasty soloing. Abrupt ending left me wanting more.

Certified banger! Love that transition part around 1:10!

that change halfway through was killer
i need a nap now!

Oooh this is fresh. Nice work!!

I should follow that with, love the composition, mix and all that makes this a great track.

Awesome track, love how hard this hits.  I especially like the little breakdown that starts around 0:47, the tone on the lead is really nice juxtaposed with the harshness of the rhythm parts and it sits really nicely in the mix.  This one is fun, and I totally agree about the death growls, like the only thing that's really missing is some well placed screaming ლ(⋋·⋌)ლ

oh hail yais!!! \m/ the change midway thru got me nodding along.  I wish my trashcan sounded like this when I opened it up!  That lead line around 2min has such an awesome groove to it.  Awesome!

Whoawhoa time to get the good speakers out for this. This rips!!!
