Moog Emerges

By ViridianLoom on April 10, 2022 5:03 pm

BEHOLD...

(Btw, those are actual samples of Moog barking and growling when I played tug of war with him)
Spent most of my week studying and didn't really develop any early ideas for a song. So when the weekend finally arrived, I was lazy and also pressed for time (lot of things to do today) so I decided to just throw together a really fast, sloppy, chuggy metal song. And dedicated it to my dog, again, lol. I rarely detune all the way to C Standard but it felt right here, and it also gave me some "Doom" vibes, hence the photo. No time for harmony, no time for adjusting drum velocities, no time for mixing, for the age of Moog as begun.  \m/,

Long live Moog!

Hahaha that ending is great. The beginning is so powerful. I feel like your drum programming is becoming more natural too. You're utilizing a right hand quarter-note pattern for the first half that helps the song continue to groove even when the underlying rhythm is more complex. This sounds really cool. I hope the studying is going well.

I love the rhythms that open up the song right away. I'm super impressed with what you were able to come up with in such a short time. I don't think it sounds sloppy at all! If anything I think the performance sounds pretty tight with the drums; unless by sloppy you mean something other than the timing. Are you using an octavizer? I really like that sound. Funnily enough I was thinking about experimenting with an octavizer this week after messing with a friend's pedal board. I think the drums sound really nice too, and I really like that rhythmic outro (sextuplets?).

Damn, the lazy you works way harder than the hard working me...

Very cool. Lots of tasty little transitions.

My dog Paula went crazy mad with this song. Started barking too and looking for something. This is a mesmerizing metal blast. Wow.

Your dog's name is Moog? That's awesome.

The bass sound is really cool here, super aggressive. This is another riff festival track - I love especially the riff at 0:45, it has both groove and aggression. You and nyarlos are both delivering crazy riff tracks! My brain melted while trying to think of the time signature. Or maybe it's just an illusion. Anyway, epic stuff! Did you get bit at the end? That was fun.

Haha, to be honest I even confused myself with the time signature in this one.

Slick tribute to a cute dog. Well done!

Rockin!  Great beat/riff combos.  \m/
More of this please.

I was not ready for how epic this is! heart

Thrown together??? Could not do this on my best day smile Great riffs and tone with really unique timing. That little lick at 1:47! btw, Moog best name for a dog (and synthesizer) ever.  Epic ending.

Love this picture!  LOL

sounds pretty tight for "sloppy"!
