There is virtue

Oh boy. Accidentally planned a busy weekend and at 9pm on Friday realised this would be the last chance to record my weeklybeat.
This started as another guitar piece in the Oyster tuning (see previous weeks) which I had always intended to put vocals on, but never made a start on. These lyrics very quickly came together, inspired by a chance viewing of a wholesome facebook post about a young man who found joy and wonder in becoming a security guard at an art gallery after his brother died. It was a fun challenge to try and write about something different to what I usually would!
The guitar was done in one take, and I'm not overly pleased with the timing (trying too hard to play along with the metronome again). I thought I was in a rush but then I got absolutely carried away doing vocal harmonies.
there is virtue in
standing still
arms by your side
there is virtue in
looking around
eyes bright and wide
I believe in
These things that
Move around us
I believe in
These things that
Move around us
these trees have names
these birds have songs
these walls can talk
the sky can sing
my lungs can breathe
my feet can walk
I believe in
These things that
Move around us
I believe in
These things that
Move around us
