I want to remember what remains

Heavy one this week WB

I made a song about how gender dysphoria feels and the process of letting yourself be changed by what you are afraid of but will ultimately lead you to joy. I have been processing how my fears of being more myself are in direct competition with being misgendered and living in a way that is not aligned with how I really perceive myself. As I move towards that person I wanted to make this song as a way to remind myself that no matter how hard change is, and how much I might, the core of who I am remains. Loving, kind, patient, funny, smiling, and caring. That's what matters.

What a great song! I love the lyrics and the atmosphere you create with both the sounds and your voice. I wish you a lot of courage and strength in the journey you are on.

Thank you for the v sweet reply and encouragement heart

kind of made me think of M.ward at parts.

Beautiful song, heartfelt lyrics and lovely performance. Feels super super intimate with the soft instruments and almost whispered vocals. Though this is no doubt a hard thing you are going through, it's good to hear there is hope and a longing for a brighter future embedded in both the music and the lyrics.

Just looked them up and found Chinese translation. I think it’s beautiful when a song writer can sing a story with ease. Not caught in rhyme schemes but make music and story feel natural. Might not be your comparison buy thank you for the kind words smile any rec songs youd suggest?

Thank you Dusty! I am trying really hard to be more soft with my delivery and composition so I appreciate you picking up on it and hearing the nuance of hope heart

as a member of a system whose gender does not match the body at all, this somehow resonates with me.

Great choice of instruments, they're so pretty together.

I think some of it is the delivery and song structure where I see the parallels. I am a bit out of touch with his newer stuff but, I regularly listened to his early stuff from the 2000s when I was younger. His David Bowie cover of "lets dance" on Transfiguration of Vincent has been a long time favorite from him. That album is still pretty great to me.
