Flikkumbo ft Finding Focus

This week I have been soooo busy production designing for a movie being shot in town, and I really didn't have the energy to create an entirely new song. Last weekend I recorded an episode of my not-yet-released TV show, The Video Wizards Psychedelic TV Show with my buddy Paul of Finding Focus, and there were a few points in our half-hour music-making session for the show that I thought were so beautiful that they could work as a standalone song.
I went through the entire episode, and decided that this part was the strongest as a standalone piece, as Paul played his OP-1 as the lead synth, and I used my Stylophone CPM-DS2, Microkorg, and TD-3 in combination to make a droning ambience, amplified by my reverb pedal. The TD-3 was playing a pattern where it just hit the same note at 16 beats per bar, and I set the clock tied to the CPM-DS2's LFO as high as I could before it stopped triggering. I also had my Volca Drum hitting a sort of gong-like synthesizer drum sound every few bars (it had something like a 30% chance of hitting, so it was pretty random when it did hit).
I moved the timing of the drum hits around a bit, and did some EQ work and used keyframes to bring the various tracks in and out, and badda bing badda done it only took me a couple hours to throw the whole thing together.
The video is comprised of a few doodles I made with my tablet animated with keyframes over some old recordings of video wizard experiments I have on my hard drive. It was really fun revisiting old experiments, as some of them are from my first year of video wizard video experimentation!
