Found this cool bass sound and a line I liked, added some different sections on top of it.

A mix if m8 and sub 37 instruments.
Came across this cool record start/stop kind of sound with the melody at 1:15 using some portamento on the sub37.

Enjoy!

great energy to this track! and yeah, that sound on the lead that starts @ 1:15 is so cool

I like how you let us sit with the bass line for a bit and then the various different melodies build up on top.  This has a nice sense of swagger to it.

That portamento sound on the sub37 is wild.  It almost sounds like a pick sliding along a steel guitar string. Adds a really great flavor to this track.

Great line, bass is good in spirit, but definitely could do with a boost.

Smooth drum beat on the background, I like those synths melody lines quite a bit.

Nice vibes.

after minute 1:00 it all comes together i think, really nice interplay between the lines. nice playing!

Thanks everyone for listening and commenting!

Yeah, I'm always worried about wearing out a line but sometimes I guess it's good to let it sink in a bit.

Yeah, I could only get it to do it on the first note doing midi sequencing because it left off at a lower note so it had to slide up from a lower note. Kind of a happy accident.

Do tell!? What kind of boost? Just upped in the mix?

Thanks!

That bass does sound awesome - light-bodied yet clear, bouncy and buzzy. And I love the bassline you wrote for it. Nice work! big_smile

Yo thanks!

If you can think of any other kind of boost, that may work as well.

Nice bass! Really like the trancey synth near the beginning. Melodies evolve nicely around the loops giving it a nice sense of progression.

that synth that comes in at around 1:00 was my favourite here!  and i really like how all these lines play together.

and i really like how you made this from the bass line, i keep trying to start from a single melody as well and usually still end up with a three-piece combo in the end.  are you playing the melody lines as improvised solos or do you program them more often?  they sound like they are played live to me, but it would be interesting to me if they actually are.

Thanks!
My process is if I'm on the sub 37 to improvise until I find something I like, then program it. I think doing so gives it more of a live feel. I try to do the same just straight programming the m8 but it doesn't always come out with the same feel.
But awesome to hear those sub 37 parts sound like they're performed live, which means I'm capturing the essense of my improv sessions!

Oh nice yeah all those leads are super tasty. Definitely grabbed my attention. Feel like I wanted some more filter automation not sure how hard that is on the gameboy or live on the sub 37 🤔
