back in '79

Came across an album where all samples were from 1974 and I believe was also in 74bpm, thought I would give that concept a try with 1979.  All sounds from vinyl from 1979 this week, a bit challenging but the limitations made it fun as I don't own that many records form 1979.  Have a great week!

Yeaaah i love the vintage vibe of this track. Knowing the samples are actually from 1979 makes it even better. I like the concept of this track!

Is the guy at the beginning Blaise Bailey Finnegan III? Sounds remarkably like him from his interview on BBF3 from Slow Riot for Zero Kaneda by Godspeed! You Black Emperor. Which is an extremely random rabbit hole to jump into but wow he sounded familiar!

Great track - great rhythm, loved the vocal samples you used, just a really great vibe. And 1979 a great year in my books for various reasons lol.

Thanks for the comments, I see I lied in my description, all sounds are from vinyl and all sounds from 1979 except that quote from the beginning, that is Rza, it just seemed fitting, it’s a quote me and my wife say to each other all the time and then the kids look at us with strange looks.

Hahaha I love it nonetheless. heart

Interesting limitation to set on yourself! Feels both retro and modern at the same time, very nice! Sounds great and I particularly like the middle part!

Love the creative idea using the year.  When that bassline kicks in with the lil woodblock ooooh yais head nodding commence.

yes, what a fun concept! and your execution is on point. a really enjoyable listen. i think i've mentioned Tricky/ Massive Attack before, but was hearing some of those overtones and one of the vocal samples sounded to me like a melody that Tricky would sing... really cool and slinky!
and hell yeah, RZA
nice work.
