everything's fine (when I'm making music)

By SQF on January 4, 2026 6:48 pm

I feel like I've been dabbling with this one for quite a while now after finding my way back to making music in 2025 but now was the time to polish it up and set it free.

Includes some Community Garden samples from JWH at the beginning.

The community Garden is a project born out of the "Chasing The Beats" podcast I ran in the 2025 off-season.
Check the discord for more info on the podcast, including what will become of it during 2026.
The community garden where we share hand picked samples to inspire, motivate or maybe take you in a new direction. Samples are better when they come from a WB friend!

This one is a bit of an anthemic return to weekly beats that I feel like ties in nicely when the vibe of week 52 2024.

Hey man!!! Another WB year! Let’s go!
This is a great track to get the year started!
Looking forward to hear your music this year!

this is so great - love the community garden vibes you got goin on bud!

heart

Welcome back!  Off to a good start here with some great energy.  Some of the sounds give me the feeling of a rocket ship blasting off.  It feels uplifting literally.  Here's to a fun and productive 2026!

I love the PLAY of this one--it's important to feel joy, and that's what's happening here! Welcome back!

YOOOOOO!!!
that bass sounds KILLER
2026 ain't gonna know what hit it! so glad to be rocking w/ you, SQF  heart

TFW the title is also a true story. 😅Great to have your sound back again this year SQF! Looking forward to seeing what grows out of the Community Garden too!

OH DAMN THAT BASS.

Love how this track just sort of rolls around - slinks and slithers. And yeah, it totally has that feeling if everything being fine while making music. Starting ‘26 with a bang.

Glad to have you here SQF!

Here we go again! smile
Super nice jam. I really love the overall motion of the bass tin the track-- it has a really nice rumble that compliments the beat while you tie together all these intricate melodies throughout. Tons of layers too, it's the kind of song that sounds like multiple listens enriches the appreciation for the detail.
Looking forward to hearing your music again this year, and thanks so much for keeping the community thriving and active throughout 2025! Chasing the Beats was an awesome thing for you take up and you're a fantastic interviewer/conversationalist

That droning bass, hnnng.
Its like the engine that could... blow off the roof.
And boy, does it blow off the roof.
*high 5*

We're back and ready to go.

what a cool track! love the offbeat style! very unique!

Welcome back. Very correct title, nothing wrong going on here.

Wow, so nice! The intro really got me. Love how it keeps developing. Really stimulating, sounds incredible.

Ooof that gnarly synth sounds so goooood! So good to hear your signature synth leads too.  Thank you for creating the podcast.  It kept my love for WB going strong along with the discord.  The themes in this actually would be great as podcast theme.  The chord progression is so chill but hopeful too.  Like I'm going for a drive with my friends enjoying good times.  Oooh the B section around 2:40 is extra sweet.  Such nice harmonies with the supporting synths.  The fills and drops you have are so good too.  This is a banger for week 1 SQF!  Glad to have you here and thankful for all that you do!  Lets go team_WB!

Wow, that was some ride! Very cool sounds. Especially the bass, as many have highlighted.

Also, thanks for the podcast and the Community Garden! Both very beautiful community efforts. heart

SQF! WE MEET AGAIN

I appreciate how well all the sounds gel together. This track knows what it wants to be and the end result is very good. Confident without being overbearing, loud without being harsh, uplifting without turning saccharine. Like, everything's fine!

(nit: note that it wraps around for a few seconds at the very very end)

Dude perfect use of that JWH sample... great setup for that bass pedal.  I love the melodic transition set ups, and how the track builds and evolves through out, the breakdown at ~2:40... very nice.  This track bodes well for the year to come I'd say.

Eyoooooo!!! I know this guy! He makes great music and hosts a fun podcast!
Great to see you in 2026, buddy!
I'm really enjoying this buzzy, gritty yet still uplifting tune! Some of the voices here sound like they're in a choir, weaving in, out and around each other. Also, the melodic explorations here are really well done.
Great start to the new WB! Excited to hear more from you!

SQF who is the best to ever produce with thumbs

I listened after jwhs it was fun interpreting it through a more rambunctious lens.

HARDLY JWH is a tough act to follow

hell yeah! it's good to be back. let's go!

Hey SQF!

Did you apply any of the tricks that some of the podcast people shared for your track?

This track is epic! The contrast between the groovy beat and the high rhythmic melodic element are good. I like the variation of layers - the sliding one and what sounds like even a choir effect for more dynamism. This track is taking us on a journey. I dig especially from around 2:50.

Looking forward to more of your music this year!

SQF? more like HQF!

HIGH QUALITY FUN

I can totally relate to that title, too... great work and definitely thrilled to do this alongside you this year again, thanks for everything!

mmm yummy toothy bass.
@1:48 had me flippn & floppn. sounds great in the cans!

Thanks!

-My ears

Week one and delivering the goods smile. sick bass

Oooh this is pretty AND it has swag. I like how the sharp crunch in a lot of the sounds makes it pop, while the slow portamento and occasional filtering keeps it relaxed and mellow. Lots of cool textures and sounds, had to give this a second play to appreciate the slow buildup of layers.

That bass sound is the sound that I hear in my head when I think about synth bass. Perfect smile

love the drums, the thicc synth bass and the harmonies! feels good! big_smile

Happy new year!! You definitely know how to layer and play joyfully your synths. Well done sir.

That's a good question! I've definitely been inspired to create some more groovy bass lines. The choir thing is really just a super saw that through the magic of accidental sound design came out really choir-like and I love it.

Thanks Q-Rosh, Happy New Year, great to hear from you, hope you can find some time this year to make some music, even if it's for your own escape, but we'd love to hear it!

WAIT ARE YOU SQF FROM THE CHASING THE MICE PODCAST??

holy crap that GRINNNNNND is so HOT
2:38 chord change key change whatever section was incredible

This SQF beat straight up FQS, know what I’m saying? Anthemic is right, massssive sounds! heart

Hey SQF! Great kickoff track, love that buzzy bass and juicy yes anthemic lead line. This gets us ready to go for sure! Thanks for the pod, and thanks for reminder about community garden, I'm going to go plant some samples and maybe harvest too. Happy week 1, let's keep rockin!

Killer track to start the year, that bass rips a hole in your chest.  Really nice mix and blend of sounds on this, great balance between the gritty/distorted sounds and the cleaner soft sounds.  Lot's of nice transitions and changes, this does not feel like a 5 minute track, stays fresh through out.  Thanks so much for taking the time to do your podcast, I really enjoyed it and you have a great manner and speaking voice, keep things moving and your guests engaged.  Community Garden is an awesome concept, sorry if I missed it, but is there somewhere to go to access these sounds? or to add sounds?

welcome back to 2026. Everything *IS* fine when there is music to be made and ears to fill with sound.
the track just flows, those lead lines are lush.

Hell yeah, some badass synth tones in here.  Love it.

everything's fine (when I'm making music)

yooo i wish this was true sometimes it just gives me anxiety bashing my head against strudel trying to make it do the thing i want. trackers are still so much better for that for me.

The community garden where we share hand picked samples to inspire, motivate or maybe take you in a new direction. Samples are better when they come from a WB friend!

sounds cool and fun sounds!
