New Anthem Tonight

By Sodabelly on February 1, 2026 8:26 pm

First off, I will catch up on comments and listening to some of your tracks this week! I really need to decompress and enjoying all of your tunes is just the trick.

Every time I sit down to write lyrics they end up being about the current ummm..."situation". I may recycle these lyrics in a heavier tune down the road but felt like making some folk this week. I recorded the vocals in a few quick sessions so levels and clarity are a bit inconsistent, overall though I'm pretty happy with this one -- it's a mood for sure. Enjoy!

Beautiful guitar and piano. Delicious double vocals a-lá Elliot Smith. You killed me with the string arrangement (are they real strings or virtual?)... this song is really really something. For real.

Technically sounds top notch in my book. I wouldn't touch a thing from the vocal delivery. I guess it would be cool to have some actual choir of several people singing at the 4 minute mark, though other than that, your performance is really touching. Please don't change it.

I think you'd like this : Son Lux - Rising. It is doing quite interesting things when it comes to dry vocals vs overdubs.

BTW, Sodabelly : I sampled your "Hiding" break and combined it with a Casio home keyboard !!! I really hope you dig the result

The acoustic guitar sounds lush and gorgeous, as does the rest of the instrumentation.  There's a long tradition of folk music used as protest music, so I think it's a perfect medium to talk about the current situation.

So gorgeous...ALL OF IT! Your lyrics are so powerful. They bring me comfort amidst our current state of being. All the instruments sound great and I really love your vocals as they are. Lovely arrangement of the instruments too. Wonderful song, thank you for making it.

lovely vocals and guitar that start it off.  The piano and strings are such a nice touch.  That melody from the piano and the choir of yous sounded great.  beautiful song!

Damn you guys are good!

Beautiful acoustic guitars, arrangement with the piano and strings is spot on and great vocal performance.

I don't know if it is because of the fact I am tired, or how beautiful some of you guys tracks are but I feel very emotional at the moment.

Thanks a lot for sharing those.

Love you guys, take care!

Man, this is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with us heart

Really wonderful. Sometimes hard to believe how good these songs on WB are.

Really beautiful. I was listening to this at work, so wasn't really 'aware' I was listening to weekly beats. When this song came up, I initially thought: A nice, I haven't heard a new song by Radical Face for a while now. Then I thought "wait, I was listening to weekly beats". So, long story short, this really reminds me a lot of Radical Face, both in terms of style and vocals. I love Radical Face.

People deal with this stuff in unique ways. You did in beautifully.

Oof, hard to really say much here as it's such a complete piece for a week of work. The lyrics resonate hard, the music fits that mood perfectly and tugs on those emotional strings without going too far. Exquisite.

No notes, five stars.

They are not real strings sad I have some go-to strings, lately it is the SWAM solo strings, I only have a couple and hoping to get more soon. They are pretty expressive but I'm still learning how to get the most out of them.

I will check out that Son Lux track! And I'm looking forward to hearing your track this week!

Okay, I've never heard of Radical Face but I know what's going to the top of my listening pile. Thanks!

Well, in that case I heartily recommend any of his albums from the family tree series. That is what your music reminded me of. Again, really great stuff. Definitely one of my favorites on weekly beats so far.

Lovely song. Love when pulled back big room vocals at the end.

Your gif image made me laugh. I was watching Golden Girls with my wife the other night.

The instrumentation in this is great.  The guitar, piano, strings and your voice sound great together.

Needed this. Thanks for the audiohug.

goddam heart

this is crazy beautiful
