Took some time

By prophisee on March 10, 2024 5:02 pm

Another beat from my trip to Puerto Rico. Just playing with the standard hip-hop style. Made this one on a baby midi keyboard in a Starbucks. Choir is a sample. Wrote the lyrics walking around listening on headphones. iPhone vocals again tracked in the hotel shower 😆

Feel free to roast.

That's one powerful start.

I love the epic sound that the choir + bass gives. Snaps are a nice touch. Speaking of snap, cc: more snare volume and crackle plz! Congrats on 10 beats down! Killing it on vacay.

Nice work on vacation!

Something very strange is happening with the vocal line pitch-wise I can’t articulate exactly what it is.

After digging in several times: the backing is in D minor and sounds fantastic, and in isolation the vocals don’t appear to be doing anything strange. I thought the vocals were off by 50cents at first or something, but the D in the vocals are in tune with the backing D. I’m pretty sure the issue is the choir sounds are using E in their D based line yet the vocal is using Eb. I think these should complement each other a bit more and avoid this (unless using it in an intentional way, which it doesn’t give the impression of) otherwise was solid, especially the beginning.

Ha I think you are right. I was rushed on this one and I think I might have clicked a wrong note or two on the auto tune 😆

Thanks! You have an ear for the snare I think you are right I seem to have a pattern of neglecting it
