DETERMINATION ENCORE

Well ... I feel a great sense of accomplishment. When I started this endeavour, I suspected that I might not stick with it. Then, each week came and went with a new song uploaded each time. I don't really know how I did it, but I'm feeling pretty good at the moment.
And also a bit sad. Despite the arduous slog of forcing creativity each week, I really looked forward to listening to all your songs too and seeing the comments, not just on my own song but on everyone else's too. I was something to look forward to, and I'll miss it a lot.
I feel like my biggest personal challenge for 2025 will be to keep making music consistently, without the deadline each week ... because I definitely left it until Sunday afternoon many times and would have let it slide without that pressure each week! Perhaps I will try to challenge myself to do a Monthly Beats with a weekly progress check requirement lol. Anyway, I have hopes of taking advantage of the relaxed schedule to actually spend some time crafting some stuff.
For my final song, I thought it would be appropriate to revisit the first song I ever uploaded to Weekly Beats, that I called DETERMINATION as a an acknowledgement of what it was going to take to see this project through to the end. This was the first song I ever completed on my M8, and the first song I ever released publicly. It was a huge deal for me to have taken that step and I'm so glad that I did. So this song bookends the whole project and it feels like a tidy way to wrap things up.
So here is my second take on this. I fixed the percussion, which was what many people commented on, and re-listening to it, I agreed needed some work. I changed some instrumentation to make them more interesting. I adjusted the arrangement and improved (I think!) the mix. It's still the same song though, with a relentless repeating chord progression ... a determined chord progression, if you will! I stuck with just M8 synths again but took advantage of some of the new firmware features like wavetables and EQ. I'm pretty happy with the result ... again!
Anyway, congratulations to everyone who has managed to keep with it until the end. I had a blast and it was such a pleasure to meet you all and enjoy a years worth of music together. Thanks so much and all the best!
Cheers,
Peter
