Again, your very cool guitars (and electric bass), works very good.

And I love the trumpet!

Nice crunch on that drum machine.

Hehe, that outtake reel in the intro...priceless. big_smile

This song's no joke though. It's got so many elements of your trademark sound in it, and it's awesome to watch it come together in real time! I'm especially loving the processing on that snare, and segments where bitcrush (?) the whole song.

Question: the bass in this track feels so strong and gritty, but it feels so clear and distinct in the mix at the same time. Any tips on how to achieve that?

Great sounds! Very good.

amazing piece! I'm bouncing in my computer chair, The trumpet is such a nice touch heart

Question! Where do you draw most of your inspiration from and how does that reflect in your workflow and the tools you use?

This sounds amazing, the bitcrushed drums towards the end are so perfect

Ohh yes it's always so nice when I hear that familiar OD sound coming through my KRKs *cough*  But seriously love the downtempo groove and grit felt throughout.  The guitars are what gave me those instant Orangedrink feels.  Trent would also appreciate your use of Brass instrumentation smile  Love that the WB22 chart is watching over you observing the new 24 take place.
My questions pertain to the nice setup you have there.  What's your favorite thing about Ableton? Do you mainly use it for final recording from all the hardware?  I'm guessing most of your inspiration comes from all your cool gear but does it ever start first in da Ah-blay-ton?  Is that a mac mini too?  Oooh nice!
PS I also appreciate your breakfastclub_juddnelson_fist_in_da_air_movie_ending_stare.

Super cool beat evolution! I love the overblown bass parts! At first I was like whaaat but then they grew on me. They give a lot of heaviness to the beat, which then you can emerge from. really cool composition, minimal at a glance but it's balanced and there's a lot behind it!

Nice trumpet, would love to hear you shred it at some point on the trumpet but the minimalistic approach is also nice big_smile gives a good texture and less risk.

So how good is it so far to use the octatrack live? do you have to do a lot of preparation beforehand? how do you work with samples, is it a lot of hassle and technical setup, or is it fairly performative and fun? same Qs on youtube smile cheers!

Love the trumpet!

Question:  Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Just kidding.

Serious Question:  How do you go about planning a track like this?  Are you pre-recording the guitar parts and mixing them live?  Do you do run-throughs to have a good feel of what the final track will be or is mostly in-the-moment flow or a combination of both?

minimalistic beat with some cool twists peppered throughout!  dig the general lofi aesthetic of the tune

Hell yeah, that trumpet!! Nice work smile

awesome! the sparse arrangement makes those saturated drum beats hit really hard. the trumpet is a nice touch. The song gives me 90s lo-fi indie vibes

Favoriting your "fadeout face"

Oh, not a huge fan of that high tom sound, as-is, for this song though, it's a bit too cheeky and pert for this kinda grungey gazey track. Maybe if it was crunched a bit with some distortion (?)(?)(?)

Great stuff as always really enjoying the live takes and the bloopers as also funny big_smile

Question where do you have your printed photo of your Two Aussie buddies tongue

but real question how many instruments can you play? and is there an instrument you would like to learn this year if you had the chance?

Fantastic!  Nice build up.  Trumpet gave me goosbumpets!

What a perfect title for this song.  Just slowly moving along, building up.  Trumpet is perfect.  Takes the place of vocals, but is better than vocals for 2 reasons.  1) it's easier for a trumpet than for vocals to "sound slow."  And 2) since there aren't any lyrics, the trumpet "vocals" can mean whatever a listener wants it to mean.  Cool song man.

gets into a beautiful groove as it builds, really like this one, nice work

When I listened again, the cheeky tom was one of my favorite parts. It just goes to show!

The intro was hilarious! I could see the manic despair in the eyes. A bright smile but the eyes tell me "please let me be done with this, please video gods". It's alright, we got you covered. There is no mistake, there are only gloriously hilarious blips in the quantum space time.

That kick has a lot of oomph. I enjoyed wrtching how you built such an electronic track live and how you mix recorded/programmed sections with live instruments, here the trumpet. It's like adding adding different color textures, layering over and over and adding nuances. That is a unique feel. The trumpet sounds are like pads, with some nostalgia in it. This makes me want to use more live instruments in tracks. The perfect imperfection of their sound really adds life.

Bonus points for the CRT TV!

Great track, delivers what the title promises. Nice color variations with the Analog Heat. Love the big tom fills, and the cowbell doing its thing sparingly(!). smile

Lots to like in this track, the trumpet feels just right & the guitar part is lovely. The bitcrush/reduction effects works wonders on the drums. You're making this whole recorded performance look very easy haha

intro & outro were totes adorbs & made me smile smile which was nice cause i was feeling grumpy
but this gorgeous track made me slowly melt into a nicer puddle - this has a nice array of yummy orange drink flavors

sorry this was the gif meant for you

A little bit of build-up goes a long way.

Excellent, I've really ben feeling the down-tempo thing lately.  Very cool when everything comes in.  Digging the bit crush(?) you added on a lot of the parts too.

One of my fav tracks of yours it's awesome!

super restrained slow burn, did not expect the trumput entrance - love it!

yeah i must have missed this one. might be my fave of yours so far this year. that tempo felt just right and let all the sounds you brought in really shine. was thrilled to see you pick up the trumpet!
XO

Those crispy lo-fi drums toward the end are fantastic. I love the whole thing, it's so... you!

Totally missed this one. It has some very addicting guitaring on there. Favourited.

this one definitely a slow burn and well worth the listen. I really enjoyed this one, kinda feel it getting stuck in my head now...

I’m so honored to have a “trademark sound” - yep that was a bitcrush.

Thanks so much!  I am wondering if all bit crushers are all the same.  For some reason this sounds more “musical” than Ableton’s Redux plugin.  I should try an A/B test.

LOL about the WB22 chart, we gotta get that framed.  Thanks for watching and shoutouts to the ending stare smile

Thanks for the kind words on the minimal composition, appreciate it.  also I love you for THINKING that I can shred on the trumpet - I gotta increase my notes-per-minute count slowly.
