Coming in hot with those 90s vibes. It's all here! The Orange and the Drink!

Glad to see you back! smile

Really excited for the live performance challenge you’re going with this year. Sounds like it’s off to a great start already - no surprise there!

That beat and those dark warbly synth chords pair really well together. Nice!

(And let me know when that opera track drops.) wink

Woo welcome back interested to see your live performance grow. Looking forward to see how your incorporated these restrictions over the year.

Hell ya! I’m digging this. Loving the vibes. Great way to start the year.

YOU ARE BACK!!  These tips and tricks... heart   Love this primer video mate.  It's perfect - mirrors everything I'd want to say to someone about WB; expect calm and considered.  My buddy Wynx is a first timer this year so I'll be sure to send him this video too.  Love the live basement jam - banging relentless 4-to-the-floor banger to kick off '24.  Good luck with 2024 - can't wait x

Welcome back! It feels like we never left! SIKE! we did and we came back and it was a crazy year! I'm glad you are back too!

That's a great challenge to do live performances, I fully support and no doubt it will push your skills to the next level to do this. I am gonna follow your lead and set some goals for myself this year too. One of them is to do more rhythmical music, maybe even danceable if possible. I've done lots of live stuff, but I don't necessarily aim to do SOLO live perf + danceable. Seems tough! It's a bit easier to plan things and do a cool composition and drop and whatnot, for a proper dance track, when you're alone. BUT, if I am with a drummer, then it's an option.

Your track is cool, I like that it is punchy and there is a drop (or two). Thanks for making the videos too!

I can't believe you're doing the video thing again you madman!

Accelerando and onwards!

This track is fun! Love the drums and makes me want to punch stuff! Love to see and hear your face again!

Great to see you back!  And good to see an appearance from Frank at the end as well!  The live performance idea sounds interesting and should be a good challenge.  It'll be interesting to see your evolution over the course of the year.  Also with your sick moves it looks like it'll double as a fitness program as well.

Also enjoyed the orientation video.  As a now grizzled veteran of Weekly Beats I can attest that everything you say is 100% spot on.  Let's rock the heck out of this year!

This song gave me the courage to bake bread! Happy new year you pal you!

Not one but two videos to start the year! You spoil us! I like the idea of challenges/constraints for this year, especially through the optic of wanting to play live without a laptop. A few years ago, I went to a Faith No More live and the laptop did not work so they played a set without any keyboard, just tracks that are guitar/bass/drums/mikepattondoingmikepatton. That was great in a sense but also scary to see the impact of that kind of fragile equipment.

I love the buildup of this track and the pace! Electric energy! The claps from 1:55 - I can just see that being played live and people reacting! It sounds to me like a punk track but played with electronic instruments (I love punk, it's a compliment). Looking forward to more tracks and take it easy with the vids, I don't want you to burn out!

Solid dance moves!

nice trick to accelerate bmp at the end of the intro! I'd rock the dance floor on that track!

Can I not quote people anymore? Hmmm… hope that gets fixed. Anyways, unlike djippy I will not be rocking any dance floors anytime soon, but it is wonderful for you two to be doing so. Looking forward to another year, friend. Nice work, keep it up!

Looking forward to seeing how you develop these live performances. To be back knowing you're here.

Glad to see you back and I'm looking forward to keeping up with everything you do this year! I think it's a great idea that you're writing songs with the intent that they can be performed in their entirety with minimal (or no) aid from backing tracks. And it's cool that you're using video again as a means to keep that goal. Great song this week! smile

Welcome again! I'm happy to see your videos again! So cool to see you make your song this way, you make this looks so fun to play them and it gives the song more life with unpredictable change. I hope you make even more distortion noise song, I like it, really.

And good other video. There are many reasons Weeklybeats is helpful and it's true on what you said, what is your worst track still become better if you keep trying. And that you can make great songs you don't expect. And I really need deadline to finish a song lol

So happy to see you back in WB2024 Mr. Drink! lol I gotta tell you how inspiring you were in WB2022, I'm really trying to get one track out every week this year. LET'S GOOO! heart

oh this is cool, love the smokey tonality and the big saturated kick. the huge reverb dump is a great way to finish. let's fkn gooooo

hell yeah, let's go Orange Drink! thank you for sharing your energy with us, it helps heart

*emily and i both cheered when Frank made his cameo at the end of the video
oops sorry, i better figure out the SPOILER code

It's to great to see you back! Thanks for the first video, a much needed pep talk big_smile. And nice track! Performing live is an interesting constraint, I have terrible timing so I have a really tough time doing but whenever I try it does really help coming up with ideas.

Cool 90s vibes, also reminds me of a WOW Machinima video but can't remind which one!

Thanks for the very warm welcome. That intro to WB was amazing. Wisdom!

Great track and video! Some nice advice.

I've decided to take it super casual this year, and just work on my vocal skills (again) by making some silly little songs smile I don't want it to stress me out though haha.

Thanks for the pep talk, coach!

looking forward to your vids...

welcome to 2024, bring the vibes man!

love the toms

I’m living for the orange drink octatrack era

Welcome back Drew!! I'm super excited to hear more of your tunes and see more of your videos. Looking forward to that opera tune wink

hi-nrg grooveboxing grooves to start off the new year!!~

wow! I’m so glad I stopped by your video was the primer to weekly beats that I didn’t know I needed as a first timer. Thank you so much for doing that!

"Life will get in the way of making music."

Truth.

Also. Thank you for sharing your notes, tips, tricks, jokes, time, energy, all the things...

i disagree with a part of the freshman orientation: i am definitely more famous now that i'm on weekly beats than i ever was before... this experience is ALL about the FAME to me! heart

Oh damn love those 90s vibes when the housey_synth_chords come in.  Gave me some old school discovering_moby_in_the_90s_feels yikes   excellent fast pace and enjoyed the video as always.  So good to see you back and looking forward to an action packed 2024!

"What's nice about WeeklyBeats is that you get to be part of a community of people who are also insane and losing their minds" YES

Nice fun stompy jam!

OMG, It's the motherf***ing ORANGEDRINK in the motherf**ing HOUSE!!! You are back again !!!

Your freshman speech is priceless, not just because is 100% true but also because it a sampling GEM!!!

I could not imagine this community without you, Drew. Also, extra props for Frank's cameo.

I really envy how loose you can act in front of the camera. 12 years and still very intimidated by the amount of talent here... and now you add the video thing.

Let's all play the DRINKing game smile

You are the best cheerleader I ever had. All the best for 24.

Yay! I've missed these videos smile a really fun jam, great start for the year!

hey hey, here we gooo! Love the freshmen orientation video, spot on all around! WB is the wonderful and we're all glad you're here doing what you do!
And the track and performance - a banger! Looking forward to more.

Duuude the analog heat on those drums is just... *chefs kiss*

Look forward to hearing all yr new jams in WB2024! I like how you are focusing on live performance, it's inspiring me to think hard about how I might do that for my tracks. Very hard for me to get out of the mindset of wanting to do lots of editing and fixing in post-production

Great to have you back!
love the cruchy beats'n textures.
Great idea with the Tempochange!

Ah yes, "take it easy". All live performances where one small mistake means doing it all over again. No pressure.
- Devieus

Track is a vibe, performance is a vibe, it feels good to be back here where Orange Drink is. big_smile

Welcome back you glorious citrus fruit beverage. Good luck with the live performances, I would love to do one of those some time! Curious to see what you come up with!

Wow. this is all extremely inspiring. Love the orientation video, and the goal you have of live playing/recording every track. That seems really challenging, but the reasoning for it all makes so much sense.

Great stuff. I am rooting for your success.

catchy - sounds like 2024 is digging back to the 80ies smile))) best c

KED I really wouldn’t be back here if it wasn’t for you, so thank you for being here.  I LOVE FAITH NO MORE.  Boy we have so much in common.  Also: WOW so scary to hear about that happening with such a big act like them.  Yeah, I have dropped my laptop at shows, unplugged the USB cable by accident, etc.  I definitely love how rock solid the Octatrack and the plugin connections feel.  I might even come up some velcro to strap the OT/AHFX to my case table.

Thank you for seeing this as a punk track with electronic instruments.  I don’t know how you do it, but you somehow ALWAYS know EXACTLY what I was intending with my work (oftentimes better than me!)

I was hoping you were doing the videos again and saw in week one you did not disappoint.  It took some time for me to watch these first videos, can't casually listen to an orangedrink submission, need dedicated time to take it all in.  Really enjoyed this first entry, the punches of distortion are so enjoyable.  Appreciate the intro video, agree with everything you had to say, nice to hear others feel the same way.

Not sure how I missed listening to this on week 1! So just returning the listens haha. Lots of infectious energy & a strong start to WB24!(Also very inspiring that you're recording live performances on the OT, I will definitely try that later in the year)

505 vibes!!! awesome!

Wow, every song performed live?  I wouldn't have the patience to do that once but I guess that's a really good way to rid yourself of record button anxiety.  Well done on the first one, love the energy (song and performance).

Ya, I regret it already!  but thank you, it's a great way to get "real world" practice, much more than just practicing alone at home.

haha technically yes I am, but I've yet to make any Octatrack-tracks for WB! Maybe the month of March will be the time (Feb is M8 FMsynth only)

and this ends my going backwards through your wb's for now, and holy hell what a banger. I'm pretty sure I jostled the neighbor's apartment a little with my leg bouncing to your rhythm
