Our River

This one started with the fingerpicking theme you hear first, and...that became a center of gravity that everything else responded to. It was kind of a challenge to find variations that didn't fall into it. While tracking Saturday night, I suddenly had an allergic reaction to some kind of pollen in the air. Kind of difficult to improvise while sneezing and coughing, so I found myself a bit short on material. In a Sunday editing session, I had what felt like a complete version of the piece, but listening back to it a bit later...the last third of it dragged a bit. I ended up shortening the piece by 30 seconds, which seems a bit better.

Three tracks of PureSalem Mendiola through the JHS Colourbox 10. Convolution reverb send for air, and then some compression/eq/limiting on the stereo mix.

The title comes from (the) Our river, which has an elevation of 643m.

Such uplifting feels at the 1min mark as those chords ring out.  Giving me those floating on water feels as the melody slowly revolves around like a carousel.  Excellent work!

Sounds great! Another nice week from you!

I hope your pollen allergies are better now! Thank you for sharing this beautiful track.

very nice figure on the guitar, beautiful exploration. not sure how u mean about the third part dragging but I do also sense smth about the tempo being extra laid back later in the track. maybe it's a matter of finding the groove in the main theme and playing within that groove more tightly, cause as soon as the figure appears again it doesn't feel like it's dragging, it feels fresh again (maybe a bit repetitive since it sounds like it's a sample rather than replaying the theme??), but the other motifs you do are perhaps on a slightly different groove. my 2c
anyway it sounds really cool overall, well done!

what if music had antihistamine properties??
that Colorbox really takes nicely to your playing.

Beautiful. This piece has a few moments where it feels like your guitar is a beam of light hitting a prism. It spreads out into a wide spectrum of guitars. Really really nice stuff, and very mesmerising.

It is a very pretty river, its flow is beautiful.
