Hilbre

By onezero on May 5, 2024 6:31 pm

Three tracks of PureSalem Mendiola, with just the "vintage" tone circuit on the UA Volt 1 as an effect. The usual convolution reverb and compression/eq on the stereo bus, though I'm using a new-to-me reverb impulse.

The title comes from Hilbre Island, which is off the A540 near Liverpool.

Nice post-rockish guitar tunes. Sound is beautiful.

really nice playing. it's funny, i can't always tell what that "vintage" button is doing depending on the sound source i'm using.
i always think to myself, "can i get more VINTAGE in the monitors?" such fun big_smile
whatever it's doing, it sounds great on the Mendiola this week

Very relaxing.

Thank you! This one came into existence pretty naturally, I think.

Thank you! I think the "vintage" button lowers the threshold before clipping. The UA Volt series clips like preamp/amp crunch, and sounds pretty good. The Focusrite, by contrast, clips with a harsh/rattle kind of timbre that I'm not so fond of. So "vintage" here is probably a MOSFET simulation of an old preamp. (Official explanation from UA.)

Cheers, thank you!
