Beats and Peach vs The Gentleman Carny

By Nimble Cipher on January 30, 2016 2:16 pm

Felt like doing something a liiiittle trashy and silly this week. Time for a boss battle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this track, Killer Beats (at the time simply known as Beatrice) battles the Gentleman Carny at the Carnival of Doom. She is aided by her magical 808 and the spirit of her virtual instrument, Peach.

The Gentleman employs many twisty tricks but Beatrice remains extraordinarily steady, especially given the likelihood that this was her introduction to 3/4 and time/pitch bending techniques.

Beatrice in her greenness, succumbs to the heat of battle, and she passes out having pushed Peach to the limit of her vocal range and number of voices. Fortunately, Beatrice's life is saved by Peach when she is revived by her unholy digital scream.

In her desperation, Beatrice lunges at The Gentleman pulling him into a surprisingly bangin' waltz.

The Gentleman, who had never danced with anyone, much less to a killer beat, is so moved he concedes a draw and vows to never harm Beatrice again.

Beatrice would later encounter The Gentleman Carny again in a battle against The Knight Nocturne, this time as her ally.

Wouldn't call this trashy at all. Silly, maybe, but not trashy. Definitely had my imagination stirring up images of two characters battling with sound waves haha. Keep up the good work!

Hahahah equal parts hilarious, eerie and brilliant!

And I have a sense this isn't even Beatrice's final form

Loving the turntable slowing down and speeding up in time with the beats and the second phase. Very clever.

Thanks! I am so happy to hear the track engaged your imagination.

I am so glad you found the humour in it. I was worried people might think I was slightly deranged this week! I hope to explore some more Beatrice in the year!

Thank you! I had a lot of fun with it!

Reminds me of Spaceman Fantastiques somehow.

Fun listen. Love the sounds, and the title/concept. Awesome.

Is this the spirit of peach?

Wow, this is fun ;_0

Love this and great story ha! smile

great storytelling both in and out of the song... reminded me of Alone in the Dark 2 for some reason

That is definitely a magical 808 smile Such a sinister sound when it came in with the bass.  It definitely takes on that back and forth battle with the vinyl hits.  It has a carnivalesque sort of dream sequence feel smile (if that makes any sense!)  Nice job!

The carnival just got even more freaky, well done! (This track had me smiling all the way through)

Haha, omg! I was really getting into the creepy carnival theme and then the beat dropped!!  What an engaging, enjoyable, imaginative piece!

I really like how you made characters out of the various sonic elements.  Your story really made this track come alive to me.  I feel like I am playing the video game in my mind!  I hope I win!  The tempo change bonanza was awesome.  Also just about died at the super vinyl stop and slow start up via victrola phonograph smile
