LORE

I felt like I really struggled getting this piece together at the end. I have a nice little jam going but getting this arranged using a combination of the octatrack and the digitakt a bit of a challenge. I added the Perkons for a mix up of the drums at the end. While I like the filter on the TR1000, it is true it adds a bit of analog noise (what you hear at the beginning), as I do a slow filter sweep to bring in the drums (it is a bit addicting).

Guitar signal path is still trying various wet/dry configuration using, Tonex and Nano Cortex and my pedals I have collected.

Once again this was four stereo mixes, drums (Perkons/TR1000), Digitakt (guitar/fx), Octatrack (guitar/fx), Virus (Single bass patch) recorded "live" into ableton then I added a single take guitar "solo" over the final 4 tracks.

Very heavy on the guitar and fx as I try out all these pedals and sampler fx, I hope you enjoy!

3rd times a charm with the mix on this one, let's see how this turns out.

Love all the guitars.  There's a feeling of controlled chaos to this as there are guitar lines swirling around but there's also a solid groove and the main repeating motif to hang onto.  It was fun to listen to.

I like the individual sounds for drums and guitar, but I think the grooves clash - the beat is straight 4s, the guitar delay has some kinda triplet feel, and the guitar playing itself is more in line with the triplet delay than the drums.... feels a bit like 2 different songs on top of each other. wonder how u think of it.

at the end of the day interesting to hear, maybe I just didn't get it.

Sounds fantsstic to me! Great work! God bless.

It’s funny you say that, this jam started with one pattern then I added the second and by the time I ended up arranging I almost left the drums out, but because I spent time on them I wanted to figure out a way to keep them in. Thanks for the feedback, staying committed to the guitar is forcing me to exercise a bunch of new skills. Thanks for the listen!

Aha! Seems reasonable! I was afraid I was too critical with the comment but that was really what stood out the most for me. Killing your darlings is a good thing to learn big_smile Not saying you should have killed the drums here but you get it... tongue Anyway it's always nice to find out more about the process! Cheers and see you next week haha!

loving the groove of the drums with the great sounding guitars \m/

I adore all the guitars everywhere. Sweet riffs from every direction. The droning bass alone with that trem is so so good. Drums are on point.

That main riff is like a life ring thrown in a vast sea of effects that feel like they might swallow you even as you enjoy swimming through them.

i probably already said this, but it's very cool to hear you exploring guitar!
this was hypnotic

Owning both Perkons and TR-1000 should be illegal, but since you already have both, it only makes sense to use 'em. And you did it very tastefully here. With such machines it must be tempting to make drums the star of the show every time, but you successfully glued them with the rest of the mix, so they don't overwhelm.

The Cure-like wailing guitars meander there and back and I do enjoy that a lot, but if I may have a small suggestion: a few bars where they go silent in the middle would make them appear more impactful once they returned. Currently they're almost dronelike in how constant they are in the piece.

Ooohhh very trippy and introspective. I like it! Especially a fan of the hihats in combination with the guitar, they pair super nicely here.

The guitars and like liquid dripping off all sides here, very trippy and enjoyable.

Thank you, every week is an adventure between sound design, digging deeper into my gear, and learning guitar.

I am trying to figure out this guitar thing for sure between playing and searching for tone, weeklybeats certainly makes me have to commit early.

I do have a mass sea of FX, still trying to find the guitar tones I like. Thanks for stopping by.

It really is a joy as frustrating as it is to not be able to play all the things you want, patience is the key its only been a few months.

I have a ton of drum machines, too many for sure. They stare at me all week begging to be plugged in. It has been a challenge getting all the pieces in as I am working towards developing a live set, so trying to figure out what sounds I like and arranging them all in hardware keeps me from really getting the arrangement I want. I also find the guitars and pedals do take a lot of space, your comment is a perfect reminder of this, thanks.
