Slugga Chugga

Recorded over a few days of back and forth with a friend. ... feat. Rizzy P on all lead guitar.
I busted out a straight up 2 chorder and sent it over on Thursday get the ball rolling. We went from there.

Again I started the week working on something else, then knowing I wouldn't have enough time, came to something more simple: this. I am starting to desire quality over quantity in this songwriting process more now, this comes earlier than expected. Will continue on anyway and see how it goes.

What went well:
Lots of quick and dirty takes.
Good fun doing back and forth. Enjoyed taking rests after having sent it over, safe in the knowledge that the track was being worked on.
Good fun doing a collab. Also having someone else take care of one whole aspect (lead guitars) freed me up.

To be improved:
Rough and pretty shoddy again. Just don't have the energy today to tidy this up any further.
In future I think I'd like to spend more time working out more of the song: sections, structure, melodies etc, before starting to record and then recording the second guitars etc. I think it'd make the process more efficient overall.
Refine the system for collab projects in future (labelling and ordering tracks in the project etc.).

Additional notes:
Thanks to those who've kindly commented on my tracks thus far. They have been much appreciated. I'm intending to respond and be more part of this community, just haven't found time thus far.

That's it for this week, I'm out!

I think you're on an upward trend. Glad to hear you rockin every week. This one might be your best yet.

I know there's  a stylistic reason for the distorted/lo-fi vocals, but IMO you could clean them up a little bit and the mix would benefit.

Thanks! I have found the comments here to be very encouraging. Weekly beats has come out of nowhere but I think this thing is awesome! Great being in this space where other musicians are just plugging away.

I listened through your tracks today, nice work! Some really cool stuff in there. I'm getting 90s rock vibes. Yeah. I'm also really impressed at what you've managed within a week each time! I feel what I've been turning out has been a lot simpler and in my current MO don't see how I can get much deeper. But this provides a chance to try different workflows.

Thanks for the feedback on the vocals, much appreciated. I have tended to overdo distortion on vocals, partially as a way to hide behind the fx, due to not being that comfortable with my voice. I should just get over it. I have had similar feedback from others before, so will take your notes on board and go for cleaner vocals. Weekly beats will provide many opportunities!

Thanks for the kind words. I grew up in the 90s, and my sound gives it away, for sure. You're killin it too, keep on it!

Agree w/ Blighters.  Guitars, Bass and Drums sound great, vocals could be cleaned up to match.

All in all, great to hear some down and dirty rock on here

Thanks! Likewise, great to hear a fellow rocker here

It's rough and that's enjoyable. I like it raw.

There is a QOTSA vibe on this one. Super nice. I really like the processing on the vocals.

Love this and +1 on all the comments!  I like the muffled vocal sound but would encourage cutting out a little low-mid dip on the EQ.  that helps the vocals not interfere with the middle sounds of the guitar, but you can still keep the "muffle". (imho!)
