A friend just returned from a trip to Morocco and shared a 15 minute video she created from you pictures. She always incorporates music to fit the mood of the place. When I saw her she mentioned she may want me to write a song to use on one of her trip videos. So I wrote this song with her last trip in mind just to see if it was doable.
I had also just watched Almost Famous and the references to Morocco so this song also takes off from that movie.
‹ Lyrics
You know the story, she really loves him
He woos and wants her but he’s loving somebody else
In darkness he takes her into his arms
Pretending he’s hers and then he puts her on the shelf
When she understands he’ll never be her man
Then she knows she’s got to go
She buys a ticket and boards an eastbound plane
Penny Lane heads for Morocco
She got a landing pad, the nearest Riad
She’s hanging out in Casablanca
She hears the sintir play down in the market square
She’ll sip her Nos-nos by the Kasbah
She spends the morning with some exploring
She seen the city at its best
Wrapped in her caftan her spirits are soaring
She’s taking off to Marrakesh
Penny Lane takes in the scene with her ears and eyes
Red city walls under the clear blue skies
She’s breathing in the spice of life
From snake charmers to saffron spice
If she starts feeling blue she’ll catch the bus at noon
To walk the blue streets of Chefchaouen
Blue Pearl of mountain views she puts on her hiking shoes
To climb the hill to the Spanish ruins
She rides camel back and she won’t forget
Sahara magic in the sunset
She lets go of Russel, the band and the rest
Knowing somehow, she’s past the test
Penny Lane takes in the scene with her ears and eyes
Blue city streets under the clear blue skies
The path she’s taken displays a new scene
White goats a ‘dancing in Argan trees
When she understands she makes a brand new plan
No interest in the status quo
She doesn’t want to leave this magic land
She waits for love in Morocco
