Penny Lane In Morocco

By lhrin on May 8, 2024 6:49 pm

A friend just returned from a trip to Morocco and shared a 15 minute video she created from you pictures. She always incorporates music to fit the mood of the place. When I saw her she mentioned she may want me to write a song to use on one of her trip videos. So I wrote this song with her last trip in mind just to see if it was doable.

I had also just watched Almost Famous and the references to Morocco so this song also takes off from that movie.

Great song. I really like the riff from the keyboards going from major to minor. It really gives it that Mid-East flavor.

Cool palette of sounds you used here. I like the dancing bass line, and I really like the what melody does on "Penny Lane takes in the scene with her ears and eyes/blue city streets under the clear blue skies"

Ooh, cool song! Genius idea -- wish I'd thought of it. Love how you've put in place names. Great storytelling.

It would be so cool to add it some traditional Morrocan singing in parts of the background with a contrasting melody, kinda like towards the end of Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes where Youssour N'Dour sings in his native tongue (if I remember correctly, it's translation of same lyrics) https://youtu.be/B3kFPBtc9BE?si=17mSivubDFpAlb1Q&t=268. How cool would it be to have part of the lyrics sung in Arabic/berber behind you, melodies dancing togethet....
