-{pollen program (palace of pollen 2026 edition)}-

By levelcapybara on January 7, 2026 7:14 am

This one's actually a throwback to two tracks from years past:

1) The original from 2019 (geez, that long already?):
palace of pollen

-and-

2) A follow-up from WeeklyBeats 2020:
ruin of pollen

One of the things I wish I'd done more of in 2024 was revisiting old themes and giving them a spitshine.

So, let's fix that. wink

Happy Week 2 everybody!

If there was a boomer shooter with good vibes instead of violent/edgy ones, this is what I think that game would sound like. A game titled something like "Bloom & Boom".

I love playstation/dreamcast era jazz fusion this evokes. It's such a great sound set and such a great arrangement.
Love this.

Yes, hard agree! Exactly this! Very late 90s, early 2000s video gamey! Super cool stuff!

Damn, you have this impeccable ability of capturing that mid/late 90’s redbook audio feel and sound. This is great!

oof! love the groove of the drums and that lead line is so good! ooooh 1:24 just took me to a bonus level heart instant head nodder.  love it!

The fresh coat of paint sounds great! Maybe I should dust off a few tracks too!

lovely track!

Can't get the image of mysterious floating structures in a wide green sunny valley out of my head. Lovely.

Great sounds! Reminds me of playing FF during the PS1 era smile

Really dig this one!!

Huge, chill, pixelated Capybara vibes.

Really elevated this one, very cool
- Ebrit

This is so good! I love that slap bass so much.

Cool song, nice vintage vibes

did you know that in the future capybaras can ROLLERSKATE? and that this is their favorite song to listen to while rollerskating?? it's true! i've seen it!

early 90's city highway driving type jam. brb gunna drift while wearing a blazer.

Well now this is all I'm seeing while hearing this ... and it's an image that makes me very happy, like this song!

motorcycle made from neon driving on a wireframe grid toward purple sunset type beat

Wow. I can totally see a capybara smoking a cigarette on the balcony of his home in Cyberpunk 2077

Multiplied!

This track hangs together so well, the 90s DOS game vibes are off the charts!

Always amazes me the landscapes you’re able to evoke musically. Peak RPG music yet again, love it.

Love the concept, and that title's too perfect! It'd still need some of those slick ViridianLoom time-bending guitar solos though! wink

Thanks! It's been cool this week getting feedback on the decades the sound evokes. I want to see if I can get tighter control on that this year. (Well, kind of. I also just want to have fun blending all kinds of sounds together. big_smile )

Definitely! You've got a great back catalogue, and pulling past tracks into the present is always a fun exercise.

I love that image, and that's not far off from what inspires me most to make music. This time of year especially, things that are usually dry and dusty turn bright green and then overwhelmingly colorful (especially if it's a superbloom year), and there's still enough of the rain season left over for massive clouds and occasional sun-showers. That's the kind of sheen and color I'd love to capture with sound.

Thanks 2haf!

...Okay, I can't actually rollerskate, but I could pet the capybaras when I fall down! tongue

That's so kind of you to say. heart Thanks Paisleyfrog!

the larvae you've been carying for the entire game finally hatches and this song plays during your party's first flight.

That heavy reverb makes it sound as if this track's played at a stadium concert. Not complaining, dreamy synthwave is always welcome in my book.

You used the "korg" tag, what KORG is that?

Sorry, I think I forgot to answer that before! The Korg hashtag is shorthand for the Korg Legacy Collection M1 library. (I use hashtags to nod to the sources of the sounds I worked with on a given track.) It’s been a nifty ingredient in a number of my tracks over the years. Not the most user-friendly interface, but still highly recommended if you’re interested!

Party Member 1: But this is a salmon egg-
Party Member 2: Shhh!
*Salmon hatches, everyone flies.*

Hehe, thanks for listening!

Yes! More of that vibe :3

Korg M1 FTW

that swing/groove has me absolutely out of it!

As soon as I heard that drum intro I knew this track would jam. The bass that hit a few seconds later only confirmed what I already knew.

It feels nostalgic for a future that we accidentally passed right by. I think we better turn back and get it!

Amazing track.

This rocks! I had a thought while listening that some guitar would be cool and then the melody came in around :43. The driven/delayed guitar lines are sooo nice. Super interesting to hear the progression and similarities/differences - this one has a great energy to it.

Korg M1 FTW indeed. big_smile And more of that vibe is certainly in the plans if I can swing it. Thanks for listening!

Hehe, maybe, though the future-world of this mock game soundtrack is actually a little bit chaotic. 😅 But glad to hear you liked the track, thanks so much! heart
