mind yr change

By jwh on May 3, 2026 11:24 pm

i got inspired to play some drums after listening to Jason Nijjer's song last week: a place to work in secret. recorded a little floor tom + snare beat as a voice memo and then went a little bonkers on it.   ╰(*°▽°*)╯
thanks for the inspiration, Jason!

and thanks to all y'all for listening & making cool shit. it helps, truly.
mind yr change!

Awesome idea using the tom.  love those tight vocal harmonies and slick melodica heart mind your change, BOOM! \m/

Man... haromonies and shouts turning Josh into a whole chorus! Just awesome. Tom friend is friending! Love the little reverses too heart

Yeah, the drums sound cool.  They give this a bit of a ragtag feel.  Almost Tom Waits-ish or something, although the vocals obviously give it a very different flavor.  It just feels like a fun time.

I love how squeaky squealy the guitar is on this! A really cosy lofi track with a fun rhythm to boot!
"Our arms don't bend that way" - a really beautiful lyric, it has such weight and depth to it!
Wonderful stuff.

reminds me of tom waits albums with wack drums made of trash / found objects and such. groovy! very cool unusual sound on the drums, and great vocals and compo, nice sounds on melodica too!

THIS IS SO COOL.

Love the tippy tap feel of the instrumental, with so many stacatto accents...guitar, melodica, that great drum part - and then paired with those lush vocal harmonies. It's like a musical I Spy, where your ear keeps darting around and finding all sorts of interesting things within the whole. heart

so talented. this is great. fun prowling bass and drums, great vocals and overall feel is chefs kiss

Jason is a crazy good pull, and this is honestly a crazy good song.
- Leega

Awesome work! Really original sound with great vocals!

Great vocal harmonies!

Awesome track, nice!

Whoa, this is a cool changeup in your sound! Getting Tomorrow Comes Today vibes from the beat and harmonica, but then there’s the eclectic guitar awesomeness sprinkled throughout and the vocal harmonies and…just awesome work all around! 😎

Lovely groove on this and fantastic vocals.

Great fuzztone guitar at 40 seconds

It's kind of funky, but also a little bit spooky.

Funky and quirky! Love it

I love how this sounds. I'm a sucker for acoustic drums and all the extra little sounds you capture when recording a live drum kit. It truly adds to the vibe of the track.

Ohh reminds me of Grizzly Bear somehow, love it!

So glad I could provide some inspiration to lead to the creation of this wonderful banger of a track, that put a huge smile on my face.  Love the melodica, the killer drums, the guitar and the lyrics and vocal style on this one.  That one final “both” at 1:30 is so impactful, rewinded that a few times.

So many unexpected accents, like the non-chalant utterance of 'both', to the major-tonality upswing on the final chord, held that elusive mysterious feel all throughout so well heart

big fan of Tom's ramshackle percussion for sure, so not surprised that is coming through. fun was had!

ahh i appreciate that, TF. some of the lyrics, including that line, came out of an older note i had saved in my files. i was glad they finally found a home in this tune.

thanks so much, xavier! i agree. i know it's not always an option, but it's sooo much more fun for me to mix acoustic drums.

hope y'all had a good week. thanks again for listening and sharing your kind words

I dig it.  Great groove to build upon with that lofi bass tone.  The chorus could totally be an epic metal track.  \m/

I don't even know what to say... DAMN! You got this very sick groove to it, couldn't help but head bob throughout!

Oh like this groove. Cool drums, Inspired by Jason, yay! This is rad!

fuckin loooooove this!

This is so fucking cool. Black Keys coded funk out.

Second that, proper Garage Rock. Black Keys or Black Pistol Fire comes to mind.
