I love how this just keeps marching ahead. Lovely journey.

Love how to progresses and then that bit at the four minute mark. Beautiful.

I dig the slow buildup.  The beginning felt like I was walking through the woods and the music gradually began to take form out of the sounds of nature.  And then it began its relentless forward motion.  That driving bassline at the end almost had me expecting it to break into a full blown heavy metal song with cookie monster vocals.  smile

There's a sort of stalking, skulking tension throughout this that's both beautiful and unsettling at the same time. It's very haunting - it reminds me of my hike earlier this week, to a place I hadn't been in 20+ years and the trails had changed and got me much farther than I anticipated, and it was like stepping into the past, and the landscape told me there was nothing left for me there.

I bring the drama.

Yeah, absolutely. There's a relentlessness about it that's so compelling! Very cool, dude!

Beautiful but made me feel a bit empty! Somewhere in the first half there is a chord changeup that felt perfect but now i can’t find it. I think it’s before the first time the second guitar comes in if I’m not misremembering. Also loved the little hooting birds in the back. Sounds like owls but maybe doves given the track name

What a great intro! Very atmospheric and a bit mysterious. The drone is a very nice touch. The chord progression is (seemingly) simple but super effective at setting the mood. The vocals fit perfectly with the mood as well. Simple great work!

I am humbled by the the level of art some of you are able to produce in such a short time.

This sounds amazing. The mix is full but spacious, and the build is slow and deliberate, creating great tension. When the vocals hit it's like unlocking a whole new song. This sounds like a modern version of a B-side on an early 60s garage rock 45 found in a bin somewhere - the kind where you drop the needle and realise you've struck gold.

man, this is some amazing guitar
- Ebrit

Love the buildup to your vocals.  The guitars sound so good heart an epic journey!

This might be one of my all-time favorite jwh tracks. Awesome chord prog and arrangement, and saving the lyrics for last here made them hit that much harder. Awesome stuff!

All those instrumental sounds are so lovely and physical sounding. The soft played synchronised guitar + bass accents are ticking my ears real good. The excellent layering and slow build really makes it an impressive journey.
What a V I B E. Favorited for sure heart

Great buildup in this track. Really awesome job building an atmosphere that has a sense of scale with sparse instrumentation. The track really breathes. I love the foley samples at the start (but of course i would be biased towards that). Really awesome moments like that vibrato chord at 6:47 or 6:57. A sense of mystery floats through this track. Masterfully done. Fav'ing it.

I like the slow build with the field recording. Those birds have stuff to say.

Beautiful electric guitars tones. Cool drum parts as well.

The dissonance that starts coming in around 5:48 and then finally hits us a 6:44 -- perfection.

Found myself I the right place at the right time listening to this song.

*in the right place
(or AM I the right place?) only the better angels know..

This one is a gem. Lots of quality stank on this. Well played!

Beautiful, ominous, and thrilling! Loving the guitar and rhythm in the slow build, which has such a momentum that the arrival of the verse is totally unexpected. Fantastic stuff!

Oh yes, what nice spacious flow across the landscape, builds up and when the vocal part enters, sooo good. A payoff for sure. I like little repeating builds, and the lyrics, I like the concept of calling to better angels. Reminding me of bands I used to listen to, and now want to go dig around for.

Great how you let it take the time it needs.

Those crunchy arpeggio chords are just delightful and when the other parts come in it's almost like Mogwai or Slint.

When the voice came in it was total goose bumps. Love Eliot Smith like vocals.

it's funny that you mentioned that, cuz i almost went into a heavy part (although i was hearing more of a scream than cookie monster). in the end though the song seemed to be asking me to sit in the tension & kinda ride it out.

i think i know what you mean. i was working through some shit with this one, and part of that is being present even when i'm struggling or down. and sometimes that just doesn't resolve right away and we've gotta wait it out...   anway, that's where my head was at!
and yeah, those are our mourning dove friends that you were hearing.   smile

heart   and thanks, i wasn't sure if i needed that guitar that was kinda accenting the bass part at first but when i muted that track it lost some of the impact. i'm glad i kept it in there!

thanks,, Kedbreak. sometimes i try to get more quiet isolated sounds, but this one felt like it needed to embrace the noise of our life. so i used some more room mics and left the windows open etc while i was recording. i started to get annoyed when the trash truck drove up but i ended up really liking how that sounded when it was banging the cans so it stayed in.   smile

thanks again, y'all

This is the kind of song I can imagine a band in a bar playing quietly at first, just gradually building until everyone in the bar is silent and listening along, locked in on the singer, waiting for those lyrics.
An excellent example of setting a mood with instrumentation alone. Then, when your voice comes in so smoothly, it adds such a beautiful soothing feel to the instrumental tension.
Really really great stuff!!!

The development of this is so natural and rewarding from the first hint of the drone starting and the filed recordings.  That bass is such a pleasure to hear, the drums hit just right and that vocal delivery is just something special.

Chilled me nicely. Love that little counterpoint at 4ish then a voice ! Filmic

What a great colab. This is an epic. heart

so cool!  did not notice i was waiting for you to start singing and then you did!  what a nice surprise. smile and an energetic little pondering thing, i really like it.
