eight as in 808

By Jason Nijjer on August 11, 2024 5:02 pm

Thursday was 808 day, so I thought I would try my hand at an 808 infused Detroit inspired techno track.  Used the roland boutique tr-08 and some behringer k-2 (ms-20 knockoff) on this one to bring some of that old school sound.  Hope everyone has a lovely week!

Mission accomplished. Beautifully old school. I think Kraftwerk was also involved in this spectacle.

Great track! But man I love that vocal/Speak&Spell sample and how you used it. Although since it’s numbers it would be the Speak&Math I suppose smile

OHHHH, forgot about and missed 808 day, but dang, I love some 808's. This sounds great. Don't even recognize 808 sounds at first, some of them, good use. Love the layers you got going here, sparkly part, that bassline, very nice.

I always try to remember the synth calendar days and fail lol.  The speak and spell always takes me back to my childhood and hanging out at my friends house (cuz he had all the toys n games hah). The boutique version looks like it would be super fun to just jam with in a hammock or out on the back porch smile  Love the darkness that lurks in this with those deeper bass tones.  The wavy BoCanada sound is extra appreciated too.  8oh8 is great! tongue

dig this, and that change @ 2:10 is SNEAKY

Mmm I love how minimal and restrained this is. There's a constant sense of anticipation and just a little tension that's quite powerful and yet it's all sunk into this fantastic mood and disarmed by the synth vocal.... uh that's a lot of words to mean I really dig this track. Awesome.
