My opus

By J Sangha on January 15, 2026 11:48 pm

Track was composed by me. No time to articulate the performance, but was very enjoyable. Might do something more fleshed out in the future. Feel free to download, chop, and sample this.

not what i expected to hear when i pressed play on a weeklybeat. sounds great

Oh, a lovely string section to start the day! A cool surprise. big_smile

What synth/samples are those?

Thanks for the lovely feedback. All of the instruments are from the bbc symphony orchestra by spitfire audio. I used the strings, woodwibd, and brass instruments included in the orchestral suite.

love the chord progression.  dark and uplifting. well done!

Thanks so much. I played some notes out of key in the transitions.

Really beautiful! Definitely something worth returning to in the future, I'd love to ser where you would take it with articulation and more dynamics. Gorgeous sound all round.

Thanks so much for the kind words! I'd like to make it longer too.

Always nice to hear some orchestral arrangements on Weekly Beats.  Moving the solo violin around in the stereo field for the opening was a neat way to start the piece as well.

Thanks so much! The stereo field moving effect was actually no effect at all. It was 2 different violin leaders playing two different ostinatos.

Whoa this is so good! Love the transition from the violin run of notes 1-1:30 to the swelling section at 1:40. This feels like it could go on for so much longer heart

Thanks so much! It could have gone on for 30 minutes but my computer could barely handle 3 minutes.

Wow, really pretty!

BBC orchestra is almost a cheat code, but you for sure put some sauce on this!

Also when I was listening, afterwards it skipped to "dusty drums" and let me tell you that went so hard after this beautiful arrangement.

Really good work!

Thanks so much !

Oh strings very cool!

I'd love to learn orchestration like this.

I like the shift in intensity half way.

I dont know why but whenever I hear strings, they hit me right in the feels.
Great progression, really well played.
Cant wait to hear more from you!

how did you make this? i think about more cinematic pieces sometimes but never look into it

The instruments I used were all from BBC symphony orchestra by Spitfire Audio. I basically just started out with chord progressions. I played them all on a piano VST. Thought about orchestrating 4 different parts, intro, pre verse, prechorus, and chorus. As I transitioned between sections I used borrowed chords from other scales that sounded decent. To keep the chords interesting, I used inversions in places, added some extensions, and thats about it.

Then I played all the chords in the violins, and used that as my basis for the song. Then added melody, and ostinatos with the other instruments in the orchestra ( woodwinds, and brass). Took a long time, almost 3 weeks to make this. If you want more in depth tips you can email me.

This makes me feel things. Really appreciate your use of symphonic sounds in this piece.

Thats the greatest compliment anyone can receive. I hope to make music that connects with people. Thanks for listening. Probably can't do something like this every week, but I'll try.

Having played in many orchestras back in the day, I got a kick out of listening to this.  Nice work.

I’ll try to make another one in the upcoming weeks. Thanks for enjoying the piece.

So grandious! Lovely stuff. Looking forward to hearing what you do next.
Now I want to write something for strings! Inspired.

Thank you! I can’t wait to write something else. Just need to get inspired to write something like this again.

Wow, great arrangement and composition. Orchestra and strings can be so powerful and evocative. This is lush and uplifting. Enjoyed, may sample indeed, thanks for offering that up!

Thanks for listening, and the comments! If you do sample make sure you let me know so I can listen to what you come up with. If you want the chord progression I can send it to you.

Going all in on the music theory! f-yeah!

Oh ya, lots of modulating here. Thanks for listening!

Hell yes brother, wow this is crazy, you have been talking about doing something like this for a while, so glad you got it laid down for this week.  I wouldn't even know where to start with something like this.  May try and sample this one of these weeks.  I hope to hear more of these from you if you get the time to make another one.

Thanks brother! I can send you the stems if you want with the chord progression.

I can’t explain why, but this reminded me of a soundtrack to an epic french drama that doesn’t exist yet. Some of my favorite composers have done soundtracks to French movies. Will you be next? smile

Haha thank you ! I’d love to compose for films, and tv but haven’t had the opportunity yet.

And you said my stuff was amazing, bravo

wow!

Daaang, this was super pretty! It's like the opening act of a huge epic adventure. The camera shows an over the shoulder shot of our protagonist looking at the vast expanse of the uncharted territories they will have to traverse where untold horrors and mysteries await! Super fun!
